depending on how active you are.
if you do a lot of intense sports, you're gonna sweat more, and therefore going to need to replenish yourself more.
in general 2 - 3 litres is fine, but if youre active, you'll need more.
 
no point in drinking too much water and pissing it out unless its actually absorbed and makes you hydrated. drink more milk instead
