If you’re trying to improve your looks, having oily skin is a real pain. You wash your face, and two hours later it’s shiny again. It can make your skin look dirty even if you’re clean, and it makes pores look way bigger than they are.
One thing that helped me a lot (and it’s crazy simple) is salt.
Salt has natural properties that can absorb oil, fight bacteria, and tighten up your skin a little without being too harsh. It doesn’t completely strip your face dry like some strong acne washes, but it helps balance things out if you use it right.
What I do is mix about a teaspoon of sea salt (important: real sea salt, himalyan salt or natural salt, not low end table salt) into a cup of water. After I wash my face, I splash the salt water on, leave it for a few seconds, and then lightly pat it dry.
Sometimes I also put the salt water in a small spray bottle and mist it on during the day if I notice my forehead or nose getting shiny. It’s a nice way to freshen up without overwashing your face.
Just don’t overdo it. Once or twice a day is enough. If you dry out your skin too much, you’ll end up making the oiliness worse.
Salt won’t magically fix your skin overnight, but if you’re struggling with oiliness, it’s one of the cheapest and easiest things you can try. It definitely made my skin look cleaner, tighter, and less greasy after just a few days.
Try it out.
