How should you start neck training?

I saw some guy in my gym with like a plate and a half on his head doing neck curls and my neck could do with a little bit more thickness but I don’t know how to start without potentially injuring myself- What exercises should I do and what weights should I start them with if any at all?

just start without any weight. Just lay down on your bed with your head out of the bed, then rise your head up and down
