i’ve seen people posting selfies asking for ratings unaware that the location where the photo was taken (often their home, school, or elsewhere) is stored in the photo’s exif data so here’s how to easily disable that feature

how the dox part works in action:

(now obviously i just manually added a location to a random photo of me but that could easily be you with your real location)

STEPS:
option 1: turn off location for future photos
  1. open settings
  2. go to privacy & security
  3. tap on location services
  4. scroll to camera
  5. select never

here’s a simple video i made showcasing how to do exactly that

option 2: remove location from photos you already took
  1. open the photos app
  2. tap a photo
  3. tap the ⓘ (info) button or swipe up
  4. tap adjust location
  5. choose remove location

Photo with location:
IMG 0652

Photo with no location:
IMG 0653

save them and see for yourself

let me know if you have any questions

Generally Android phones also save the location, check a picture in your photos app and see if there's a location tagged to it

for android it’s called location tags and from what i’ve seen online shows that this is how you disable it
  • Open Camera
  • Go to Settings
  • Turn off Location tags / Geo tags / Save location
I don’t have an android to confirm this on. If you do, you can make sure and report back.

Just tried that, seems to work. Thanks for the tip

But I think another easy way around it is just to take screenshots of the selfie/live pic you took? When I click those images, I don't see any location attached to it

no problem
yes screenshotting the photo does remove the original photo’s gps/location and camera info

the screenshot won’t have any location data in its exif metadata. no more worries about it.

wait i just tried one and it still didn’t remove the location
It’s mainly for removing your device’s info. You shouldn’t have locations enabled in the first place. Although I thought that Xenforo automatically removes locations for you.

You can also save the selfie on your own computer, copy it into an image editor, copy that and then post, I think that removes EXIF data too.
