I just realized recently that the reason why many of us struggle to looksmax and the reason why very few of us succeed with women is because our generation spends too much time online on their computer or their cellphone. It is very common nowadays to find yourself spending a full day indoors even when there is a beautiful day outside. We spend so much time looking at screens and all that time is wasted because we don't achieve much for the time that we spend.

I have seen many threads where users were blaming this website but I believe that the problem is the internet and screens in general. If we only used them on occasion to watch maybe one movie or one episode of a show once in a while instead of binging stuff and instead of browsing social media or forums endlessly, then we would have a much more productive life and we would be able to achieve all the goals that we set for ourselves.

The main reason why many guys are still virgins in their 20s or even 30s or older, is because they spend too much time in front of a computer or a phone and not enough time in the real world, so, without realizing it, they waste most of their time, so their life is wasted on this stuff.

Many of us do it because we're used to it, but it's not like being addicted to drugs because when you stop there is no withdrawal, just boredom and the cure to it is to spend most of that time on bettering yourself, that is how you stop being lazy and how you can finally improve yourself without any distractions.
As far as I can remember, I have been wasting my life in front of screens since I was in elementary school, because that is when my parents let me use the computer, and since then, I have never stopped doing it, and I did it 24/7 for most of the time between July 2015 and Late April 2019, then I did it again during the entire quarantine 24/7. In 2019, I spent as much time as possible in front of screens during my free time while having a job working 40h/week. And during my childhood, although I had much less free time, I would still spend most of it in front of screens.

I really wish that my parents had made it clear just how bad and how addictive those technologies are, because if I had been warned enough about the risks and about how my life would turn out to be, I never would have done what I did and today, I would be so much closer to the life that I have always wanted.

I know that for many of you, this is the answer to your problems: Focus on limiting your time spent online and in front a computer or a phone or gaming as much as possible so that you don't waste your time on those things that bring no permanent value to your life. You don't have to go to the extreme of getting rid of everything that you have, but you should always spend less time on those technologies and more time in the real world, that is how you will finally achieve your goals and that is also how you will finally get the sex life that you have always wanted to have.

As for those who claim that they are unable to control it, it is really not that difficult, you just need to believe in the fact that using those technologies 24/7 will waste your life, and prevent you from reaching all your goals and that it will keep you miserable if you do nothing to change it. Just me saying it to you isn't enough, you have to believe it and you have to act based on that belief and never doubt it and never try to justify or lie to yourself to stay in the comfort zone that you have been in for so many years.

A lot of guys online spend lots of time talking about stupid things like Nofap, and there is even a subreddit with 856k members on it, but there is almost nobody who is talking about internet addiction and when someone mentions it, people usually tell them that it's not a real thing, so people stay in their denial and they never fix the problem because they never believe that there is one. There is the NoSurf subreddit with 163k members but it's not a very active community, and usually, people take it to the extreme, which isn't practical at all, because phones, computers and the internet are extremely helpful nowadays, so we shouldn't completely quit, we should just limit the time that we spend on those things.

TL;DR: Internet addiction is the reason why a very large number of men nowadays struggle to have an active sex life and why they struggle to succeed in school or to achieve their goals. It is also why a lot of guys on here haven't looksmaxxed yet even though they know how and they have the means to do it. Distraction and laziness are mainly caused by the internet, computers, phones or gaming consoles. People who spend less time on those things will find it so much easier to have a productive lifestyle where they achieve all their goals and succeed in life and manage to get laid as much as they want. Yes, looks matter but spending most of your time on here isn't going to make you better looking because you need to put in the work, and it is the screens who distract you from looksmaxxing. So be aware of this problem and fix it by practicing some self control. If you can't control yourself, then feel free to take drastic measures in fixing the problem by deleting games or getting rid of some devices, at least temporarily to gain more control over your own life.

This post is extremely long only because, for me, that is THE most important subject of all to discuss because nobody is talking about it, even though many people in the younger generations (millenials or younger) deal with this for most of their life. Most of our problems as men come from this, so if you fix it, you're going to make your life so much better.

On a serious note though good post. This motivated me to log off and go to bed instead of staying up another hour. I completely agree with what you say and I had recently read a book on this topic by Cal Newport, he's an awesome author with a lot of good books. Take a look at this one if you're interested:

There is a lot of truth in that, but the reason why so many people are internet-addicted is because of social anxiety imo. Most people without it have normal lifes and never spend 24/7 on the internet because they have no fear of socializing.

I think it's simply a matter of forcing yourself to do something even if it's uncomfortable at first.

You have to believe in the fact that the moment you close your phone and start doing productive things, you'll automatically feel better than if you just looked at another meme or watched another youtube video.

The problem is that it's not easy to stop bad habits that you have been doing for most of your life because they are so deeply ingrained into your mind, because it's a reflex that you have without thinking and it is very difficult to stop it.

And, the thing is that the main subject of my thread was that all technologies where you look at a screen can be detrimental to your productivity, your happiness, and your social life and your sex life because it is very easy to spend hours looking at a screen without realizing it, so when you're in the real world, time seems to pass more slowly, so you have more time to do everything you want to do.

I think that what can help for the phone is to only use it when you go out and to only use it for calling, texting, a simple google search, google maps GPS, or for the camera and other things that don't make you lose control over your time.
Youtube, reddit, forums or mindless internet browsing in moderation wouldn't be so bad but for an addict, it's best to quit them altogether because moderation is impossible when you're addicted.

As for the computer, it's best to use it only for work and to watch movies or tv shows for a restricted amount of time per day so that it doesn't affect your productivity.

Then, the problem that you will find is that after eliminating all those time wasting activities, you will be bored and you will have strong urges to just follow your bad habits, and as long as you can resist the urge for a few months, you can change your habits by using all your time to focus on your goals instead. The urges will fade away over time eventually if you stay consistent for long enough, I believe that this is the true solution.

No, that excuse is too easy, social anxiety is not the true reason why people are addicted, it's just because it's a habit that they have since childhood so it's hard to get rid of it but not impossible, you just need very strong willpower, so strong in fact, that whenever you feel the urge to waste your time, you don't do it and you fight the urge, no matter how much it tortures you to do so.

Also, those who really have social anxiety who are addicted to the internet, only have social anxiety because of the internet so once they quit, over time, if they do it for long enough, the social anxiety will go away and they will be happier, more confident and better able to talk to women.

The thing that draws us back to the internet constantly is that we either want instant gratification or we're searching for a specific answer to improve ourselves but instead, we should just stop searching for answers and start putting in the work, and stop all actions of instant gratification, except for those that we are not addicted to. For example, I am not addicted to tv shows so I can watch them in moderation but I am addicted to the internet and youtube so I need to quit them entirely except for when I am working and even then, they are only to be used for work, not leisure.

Everyone has this, especially people that improved their looks and weren’t always good looking. It’s important to just enjoy the moment and focus on having a good time talking to people. Forget about the outcome, just enjoy what is happening in the moment.
