A month or so ago, I applied salicylic acid 50% on my face (on a small portion of my face) and forgot about it (I was only supposed to leave it on for a minute).

I checked after 27 minutes and my face was burning so bad, and I think I killed almost every single melanocyte on the spot I applied it to, I washed it out and there was a spot on my face that was literally albino white, and I haven't seen that much progress since then. Does anyone know how to fix this? Has anyone had a similar issue? I don't want to have to wear concealer every day.

It should just be temporary. But still recommend going to a dermatologist to analyze the damage.
The post is describing exactly what happened and how it felt:
  1. What they did: They applied a very strong (50%) salicylic acid solution to a small area of their face. (Normally you’d leave it on for about a minute.)
  2. What went wrong: They forgot about it, and it stayed on for 27 minutes. By then their skin was burning intensely.
  3. Immediate result: When they washed it off, a patch of skin where the acid had been was completely pale—“literally albino white.”
  4. Why that matters: They believe the burn destroyed almost all the melanocytes (the pigment‑producing cells) in that spot, so it can’t tan or match their normal skin tone.
  5. Their concern: They don’t want to have to cover that spot with concealer every day. They’re asking if anyone’s had the same issue and what they did to fix it.

In short, it’s a chemical‑burn–induced depigmentation (a small area of skin that’s lost its pigment because of over‑exposure to a strong acid), and they’re looking for advice on how to restore color there.

It should, and I definitely hope so, but the scar has barely healed since the incident.
I will consider going to a dermatologist to analyze it. Hopefully something can be done.
