I feel like what mostly cooked me is mouth breathing during sleep for 17 years. Ever since a little kid, I always slept with my mouth open, therefore my teeth were fucked, I am hella downgrown and lowkey over for me. However, I have always breathed properly through my nose thoroughout the day, so how do I fix this? I sleep on my side, and wear retainers at night (my mouth looks like I have a mouthguard on) so it's harder to sleep with mouth closed. Do I sleep on my back? and is mouth taping safe? i want to try it but my mom is saying its dangerous, and doesnt want me doing it.

Yes you will wake up before you completely suffocate

Also use nasal strips to make breathing through nose easier but since you're 17 you're gonna probably need surgery in the future

Stopped reading at she

Depends it might be sleep apnea and if that's the case you will probably need jaw surgery

I know this might be a retarded suggestion but have you tried mewing in your sleep? For me I’m able to just fall asleep retaining that same position, maybe try that just to keep your mouth closed. Try doing that along with getting into the habit of breathing through your nose.

I figured, but if I tape would my features reverse back to normal, or what my potential is? because such a long time mouth breathing at night would require years and years to go back to somewhat normal

I figured, however I don't want to risk suffocating and waking up, are the changes caused due to mouth breathing reversible? I feel like it would take years to see small changes.

Depends on the person but bimax(double jaw surgery) is usually what most people need

I always breathe through my nose, just when I sleep that I can't. I haven't tried mewing, because I don't know if Im doing it properly, I always feel like I dont have a lot of space and feel like im pushing against my teeth, which risks it moving and fucking it up, I already wore braces for 4 years and fixed all the crooked teeth, however I have an open bite and slight overbite , and with the retainer it's even harder to mew, so idk might need surgery.

You might have a narrow palate, I think getting surgery will be the best for you dude.

I don’t suppose why not for the time being, however I’ve seen people messing themselves up with it, no longer being able to breathe through their noise after doing it incorrectly. I know it sucks but if you can wait a bit and make some money to save for surgery dude, you’ve got nothing to lose after all.
