My Personal Experiences
Before Exposure Therapy

I unironically was the epitome of a giant fucking loser. I spent most of my life in my room only going to the movies with a family member or a single friend once every; maybe 5 months.

I couldnt get a girl to even speak to me to save my life. Female friends i made growing up wouldn't even acknowledge me anymore.

I was known for being a COMPLETE LOSER
Thread of me spouting about me being a loser

People called me nonchalant when i really just had no idea how to socialize

Personal Experience
After Exposure Therapy

Don't get me wrong I'm still not the most social guy ever. I feel like that's something your born with rather than taught.
Though i receive more people acknowledging my existence

I can sometimes walk up to others. Join their conversation and totally intrude while they include me like i was there the entire time
(Most people are much more welcoming than they show on their face)

Life Improvements Thread
Before this thread i would post 500-100 times a day since i came back to the forum
(Now i post maybe 10-20)

Example

The guy in this video is extremely average. Maybe 5'10, mostly talks to white women so no oxford study halo and he still socializes.
(Note: Most people in the video say dont try too hard; Basically saying that everyone is human just like you)

Short Story For You
___________________________________________

For years, he spent most of his days alone. He stopped talking to people, stayed inside, and slowly became comfortable with being isolated. Eventually, he decided to make small changes. He started talking to classmates, joining group activities, and reaching out to people he had lost contact with.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Over time, his life began to feel different. He laughed more, slept better, and had people he could actually talk to when things were difficult. He still enjoyed spending time alone, but loneliness no longer controlled his life. He realized that having even a few genuine connections could completely change how life felt.

1. How to build confidence to talk to other people
Compliments
A wonderful way to achieve conversational confidence is through compliments. Whether its through you giving someone else a compliment or you receiving one this will truly expose you the most.

How to MAXIMIZE Compliments
I did this study personally for about a month.
What you don't know is a lot of people actually see people the same way you do
Ever saw someone and just wanted to be friends. YES! Other people do this as well
Zw

What you wanna do is find your own niche.
What i mean by that is find your own unique style (Not too unique jfl) but probably something a little bit out of the norm that gets you compliments. I actually pierced my nose and ear's. What i learned from this is a lot more people decided to approach me conversationally.

When you HAVE something people can spark a conversation from they most likely will.
a1NIRGhnS0VTbnM9

Some Convo Starters I Got
"Oh my gosh did that hurt???" "Do you think that N/A piercing would look good on me?" "Where'd you get it done" You can imagine the rest.
But what this helped me do is build from it. Now i have people i can talk to and start further conversation another time.
LTMuanBn

(The piercing thing was an example; you can do this with many other things such as clothes, accessories, backpacks, tattoos.
You Name It.

2. Fear hierarchy
What this is, it's basically a way to face all your fears over the course of the day. You start short and give yourself 20 points for each chance you succeed at your goal.
Example
20 : Saying hey to a cashier
40: Asking someone how their day was (Don't randomly stop them that's weird; Only do this if you find yourself stuck next to them in like a line or something)

60: Bonus points if you extend the conversation
80: Going into a social place like a coffee shop where you can conversate with others
100: The Big Fish | Approach a girl
Start with the lower items and your results will most likely make you prone to try the others.

3. Preparing For The Exposure Session
1. (Sub-Section)

Something like wearing your best fit, putting on your best cologne, and even taking something to calm you down will work good.

( I recommend ashwagandha if you have anxiety; before you say its cope blah blah it doesn't work etc. I've tested my blood pressure while being yelled at on it and it was still 120-130 versus 145.)
2. Put yourself in the most desired situation
Don't forget that real life for the most part is open world. If you feel like a park or something is the least anxiety inducing place. Go there.
Eventually this as a whole will wear off and you'll be able to socialize anywhere.

4. FACE YOUR FUCKING FEAR
Nothing great has ever come out of listening to the feeling in your stomach your whole life.
The first time i approached a girl on my own accord; i was scared out of my fucking mind. I even got rejected. But after that the feeling of discouragement didn't linger nearly as much.

Corny but you get the point

5. Encouragement From Outside Sources
1. Your closest friend (IF YOU HAVE ONE)

If your a living breathing human you should have at least one person you talk to the most. Whether that be online or in-person i feel like everyone has one.

They can be that pre-cursor that kickstarts the newest version of YOU. Consult with them if you need a confidence boost.
2.Sources from the internet

Yesterday i saw a guy on a hexumlite video claim that him seeing hexumlite do all these approaches gave him confidence to approach.
1789438883277

This will show you how un-serious being a human is. Even though hexum is 6'3 this doesn't take away from all the shit he says.

In this video he literally chases this girl down; Guess what happens. He got rejected as well, that doesn't mean stop approaching.

5.5 - Repeat With HARDER Challenges
Basically step 3 but now your gonna start with approaching girls first. After your first approach this will be much easier btw

6. Consistency OVER Intensity
Doing something like walking up to a group of people your first approach will greatly diminish your confidence rather than a single person.
You may get the good ending and they end up liking you; though that's very unlikely as people have been shown to be much more hostile in group's.

ISOLATION DIRECTLY LINKED TO DEPRESSION

I've experienced this severely myself. I would constantly make threads talking about experiences of wanting to harm myself (Example; (This is pretty recent as well Thread )
HUMANS ARE SUPER SOCIAL CREATURES

Social isolation and loneliness are strongly linked to depression. The relationship is well established in research and works in both directions: isolation increases the risk of developing depression, and depression often leads people to withdraw, which deepens the isolation.

(Source)
People with limited meaningful social contact show higher rates of depressive symptoms.
This holds across age groups, though it is especially prominent in older adults, young adults in transition periods, and people living alone. Loneliness (the subjective feeling of being isolated) is often an even stronger predictor of depression than objective isolation (simply having few social contacts).

Historical Figures That Lived
Sad Lives Due To Isolation

Nikola Tesla
(Arguably One Of The Smartest Of The Human Species To Ever Live)

In his later years the genius inventor lived alone in New York hotels, feeding pigeons and growing increasingly isolated from former relationships. Financial difficulties, eccentricity, and broken relationships left him largely alone. He died in a hotel room with little recognition or company at the end.
anBn

Bobby Fischer
(Chess Monarch)
The chess genius grew much more isolated after winning the world championship. Paranoia, extreme views, and rejection of almost all personal and professional ties left him living alone in various countries, often in difficult conditions. His final years were lonely and marked by declining mental health.

ODUuanBn

A Less Intelligent Example

(I'm sure a lot are thinking that IQ and social life are linked and it is true)

Edith Bouvier Beale

(Finding this took far longer than i originally hoped as finding someone isolated that is also semi-known is extremely hard)

Anyway; she was a cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and grew up with some social advantages, but her adulthood took a different turn. After early attempts at modeling, acting, and social life in New York, she eventually returned to the family estate, Grey Gardens, in East Hampton. There she lived for decades with her mother, “Big Edie,” in increasing isolation and squalor.
The once great big house fell into severe disrepair. Raccoons and cats lived inside, the structure deteriorated, and the two women had very little ordinary social contact with the outside world

40: Asking someone how their day was (Dont randomly stop them that's weird; Only do this if you find yourself stuck next to them in like a line or something)

Dont forget that real life for the most part is open world.

If your a living breathing human you should have atleast one person you talk to the most. Whether that be online or in-person i feel like everyon has one.

They can be that pre-cursor that kickstarts the newest version of YOU. Consult with them if you need a confidence boost.
2.Soures from the internet

Yesterday i saw a guy on a hexumlite video claim that him seeing hexumlite do all these approaches gave him confidence to approach.
View attachment 5646032

I would constantly make threads talking about experiences of wanting to harm myself (Example; (This is pretty recent aswell Thread )

In all seriousness dude, i’ve been there myself.
When i first started trying to socialize like you are now, i thought i had it all figured out within the first few months.
And i can see that this is a new change, because your reference post was just 2 months ago.

It’s been 6 years since i was at that stage; complete retardation to initial social experience.
What you describe aligns perfectly with my views at the time, but as time goes on, we learn that it’s so much more nuanced.
Absolutely everything about socializing is implicit understanding and reading cues instantaneously to muster a fitting response.
You don’t learn that overnight, and definitely not 2 months!!
I’m still learning and trying new stuff.
So don’t think you’ve got it all figured out…

My advice
But anyways, you’re in for a long journey. So let me give you some advice.

I fucked up many times, was hated and bullied for being generally just weird (tryna up my social game:feelshah::feelswah:)
Being stuck at a school where this happens - SUCKS!!

* So up your sample size - dedicate yourself to a club activity where you’re already doing something you like with other people, (i’d recommend a fighting gym or a hobby)

* Respect yourself above all. The reason i was bullied and hated was because i was a weak suckup. Nobody likes weakness and especially not a suck up.

The nuance: becomming a suck up is easy for people like us, psychoanalytically we want social interaction and pursue it, indirectly creating a dependancy for it where we base our self-worth on our perceived level of “social competence”. So we avoid confrontation because we don’t want to risk damaging our ego (losing social competence).

So the absolute major goal In becomming a social god: is to not be social.
What this means is; don’t chase friends, chase competency and proficiency in skills or work that satisfies you. Which will give you confidence.
Absolutely allways stand up for yourself when people aren’t speaking “correctly” to you. You need to address every form of contempt. “do you think its okay to make fun of me?” “Are you going to help me or just stand there?” “We all start somewhere, what right do you have to criticize me?”

The funny thing is, when you respect yourself, and verbally abuse others and claim your human right, people respect you back.
Not only the person you’re responding to - but the entire room. Because there’s a thing everybody dislikes; doing something thats socially unjust like treating you badly and being mean.
Call it out. And people automatically see you as the victim underdog, standing up to the evil perpetrator. Everybody likes that, a real argonaut story.

To get what you want you must do the opposite.

Hope this helps.

View attachment 5646032

Didn't read yet, but glancing through why did you need to add historical figures didn't really see any point of it cuz times were different back then.

And you could also argue that the people you mention for example Nikola Tesla despite being alone made great inventions. You could say that because he was alone he had all the time to himself to make world changing inventions that in turn made him famous.
I think we all know great ideas strike our minds when we are alone (like shower thoughts). It isn't a problem being alone but yes I agree staying isolated will have negatives drawbacks to yourself.

View attachment 5646032
