If I don't use shampoo daily, my hair look like this :
1664011839448

If tried EVERYTHING (but it doesn't worked) :

- No using shampoo during 6 weeks (nothing changed))
- Only using shampoo once a week (impossible, they look oily after a few days)
- After that I tried a Paraben free, sulfate free shampoo (no real difference)
- Using baby powder/cornstarch on my hair roots (Only works during a few hours)

Do you have REAL solution for this problem ? :feelswhy:

Do you take hot showers?

Medium heat, sometimes cold
trying using no heat. Might not work for you because I was doing boiling showers 20 minutes a day. My hair improved a lot after taking cold showers. Hot water strips oil.

Also why do you want to only shampoo once a week? Some people can pull off the no shampoo style but it might not be easy for you can't you just shampoo once or every other day?

Btw I use hot hair dryer daily, do you think it's bad for my hair ? Should I use a heat protector spray ?

Because I'm trying to keep a clean aspect as long as possible and the more I use shampoo, the more quickly my hair will be oily

Yeah that's not great for hair. just use a towel pat it down and it will dry in 20 minutes.

I used to shampoo once or 2 times a day when I did no shampoo for a month and stopped hot water I was able to get it down to every 3 days. So my hair can look good for 3 days before it gets super greasy.

And my hair never gets insanely greasy past a certain point if I didn't shower each morning it looked like I had homeless hair now it would take me 2 weeks of no showering to have close to that much grease.

I still have incredible naturally greasy hair/face so couldn't get rid of shampooing but I've minimized it if I had short hair I think I could do no shampoo but with long hair its too annoying. Being natural is good but also some people just produce a lot of oil in general especially if your a young man.

Ketoconazole Shampoo

Just shave your head, expose your scalp to the sun or UV rays for half an hour for a week, then grow your hair back...

Try using something called a co-wash, its basically a much weaker version of shampoo meant for daily use if you genetically oily hair like I do

Okay thanks for your reply

The only correct answer is to take Isotretenoin (accutane).

Just wash it every 3 days with normal shampoo lol

high estrogen?

I have the opposite, my hair is barely oily even after 1 week. Its like dry wool jfl

Medium heat, sometimes cold
I don't know the answer to your question (I'm curious about it too) but just wanted to chime in that if you use any heat at all in a shower it means you're a PoS as it's terrible for the planet

High sebum production?

Not much you can do.

You can add some head skin moisturizer and cover your hair too. Aloe vera based, something delicate, non alcoholic, etc.

The reason you get oily hair is because your skin is creating lot of sebum to cover your skin and protect it from dryness.

In some cases, it's just overdoing it - like in mine.

I use Moisturizer after shower to moisturize the skin and hair.

It doesn't remove it completely, but head is not so much oily, and it also smells good.

You're simply just one of those guys who need to wash their head on daily basis.

Mine gets oily very fast as well. But since my hair is wavy/curly, the oil doesn’t travel down the hair strand, and instead gets very oily at the roots. This weighs the hair down and makes it look very flat and shitty. It only looks good if I wash everyday.

Have you ever tried to use some strong shapoo against very oily hair that are sold in pharmacies ? I don't know if they work well

Yep, with tar included.

I also have natural tar soap made in Russia - high quality product compared to Western products.

It does help a bit, but well - I still need to moisture my head.

The most oily part of my head is scalp, then forehead and sides, then back and face.

The biggest oil production on entire head gets when I take nap during the day or sleep entire night - you just feel that entire head is in oil, especially face feels heavy.

I wash my head twice a day - morning and evening showers, and each time I do it, I clean my head 2-3 times.
1st time is always to get rid of the oil that gathered, then the next ones is to clean the head properly.

You can use warmer water when you do the first head clean-up, the oil goes off much easier.
It also opens the pores a bit.

The last cleanup is always with coldish water - it does actually close the pores, cools the head, etc.

I let the head to dry naturally, and about 10 mins after I apply a moisturizer on it - scalp, sides and back.

I have this issue for over a decade now, and practically there are no other solutions that would work than just an adjusted showers (some people are fine with 1 shower a day, some need 2 showers a day).

I could go to doctor, but I'm skeptical about the pills or medicines - in their cases, they help for one thing while fuck up another thing.

As long as I have this nice rotation, and I don't have to be embarrassed that my hair get smelly in the middle of the day, then I'm totally fine.

No shampoo/low shampoo doesn't work for everyone. Maybe you just need to shampoo more instead of less. What's the most often you've shampooed your hair a week?

shampoo 2-3x a week and use conditioner daily with the shower water being lukewarm at most

I usually wash with shampoo once a week but since a few weeks its impossible so I will do it 2/3x per week

Tea tree oil based shampoo helped me

Yep,

any shampoo that does nourish, or whatever they say - it's cope.

You keep shampoo for about 3 mins on your head then you remove it with water.

What is important is the after care - moisturizing, masks, nourishments, etc.

Basically any shampoo will do, as long as it's bio and doesn't have any silicon shits or whatever like that.

Just pick up the one that works best for you in getting rid of the oily hair as efficiently as possible.
Cheap ones can do, as long as the ingredients are fine, they do not cause any skin allergies or weird things, like red skin, dandruff, etc.

You can try also stuff like sugar peelings, etc.

There are ton of various nice cosmetics - it's not worthy to go for all of them, but get some that you would use on daily and weekly basis.

You can also try for going for some SPA, bathe in sea, etc. - when I had dandruff issue due to shampoo when I was young, I happened to go to the sea and was bathing there daily for like 2 weeks.
It resolved the issue, lol.

Also, worth noting

Oily skin on head can be also the after effect of too dry skin and hair.

It mostly begins with very dry head, then causes dandruff, and afterwards it turns into super oily skin and hair.
And that's natural reaction to protect the skin from dryness - it's to cover it with it's natural moisture which is sebum.

Dermatology sure became advanced by now, but it does struggle in many areas unfortunately.
