Yeah, if possible, but that would require keeping a tight leash on the researchers involved in the project.

This could stifle the overall progress towards the goal. 1000 researchers, globally, working on it versus 50 researchers means the former will most likely find the cure faster than the other will. It's all about trade-offs.

Ideally, the cure gets found but it's so prohibitively expensive that 99% of people still cannot afford it.

its not a mainstream issue, maybe for the next generations as high standards will be inflicted prior to them even being born will they take an interest but even still it would take a long time to find a cure for something that can be lived with. We probably wont see any cure in our lifetime thats certain
