How to improve fashion style?

I’ve been curious if fashion really plays a role in smv and if it does, what clothes should I buy/wear? Usually when I put together an outfit and it’s too experimental I look back and cringe so mostly I just wear what everyone else wears and I hate it. I wish I had style but usually what I wear doesn’t match my body or face and I look like an idiot I just would like to know what kind of style to look into, I don’t care about price range or anything
