What home products can naturally lighten hair, I wouldn't mind if it's over a course of a few weeks or something, I only need light hair for this colouring. Ideally I would like slight brown highlights in my hair, that would be fine

Put some Sun-In Hair Lightener in your hair when you know you're going to be out in the sun for an extended period, like at the beach or something. Depending on how dark your hair color is naturally, the more you will have to repeat the process. Although as your hair is brown it can easily go orange unless you add a generous amount several times over, then you will likely have to add toner to make it look natural.
