How do you actually meditate I just put calming rain and thunderstorm video on YouTube and he said it's great for meditation how do i do it

Relaxation, inner peace etc

I let this raining video play in the background and closed my eyes, my mind drifted off automatically to something familiar and I just sat there for 9 minutes and and time passed really fast.

Just focus on breath. Mind wanders, acknowledge it and focus on breath again. over time u will be able to keep focus on breath for longer time before mind wanders

While focusing on the breath, won’t your mind still produce thoughts, even if related to your breathing?

Its not about not having thoughts. Its about being able to keep focus on breath and still be able to look at thoughts. There is a river of thoughts, without using breath as tree to hang by and get bigger picture of thoughts, u would just be swept by thoughts.

One is control of your thoughts, latter is controlled by your thoughts

the goal is to get out of your toughts and focus on something like your breath or repeating some word in your mind like "relax"

one trick I find it helps a lot is with each breath I imagine myself getting calmer

You get to the point where you get out of your mind and you will certainly enjoy the effect, just in the present moment

I had the best meditation session ever when I had taken amantadine 2 hours before and did the Udgita pranayama (meditation on the syllable "aum"). Effects lasted 2 days , pure bliss, felt detatched in a good way. Almost like life was a video game and I was just chilling on the couch and enjoying the ride,unortunately haven been able tor eplicate it. I also did it reclined and on an empty stomach

Its same thing imo. Instead of focusing on breath u are focusing on mantra. Its really about anything as an anchor. You could just stare at red vase as anchor and do it.
