How to prevent hair from getting stiff?

When I come out the shower it looks pretty nice (3a-3b) and fluffy but after 1-2 hours it's gets stiff hard and dry. I shampoo/condition 3 times a week and shortly apply a leave in conditioner. Honestly contemplating going to a salon but don't want to look like a faggot

Is it possible for hair to be the same texture it is out the shower with product or will it always be more afro? Idk if this applies to whities tho
