Step 1: Wash with a gentle, non-active cleanser. Step 2: Wait 20 minutes until your face is bonedry. Damp skin increases absorption too fast and causes chemical burns. Step 3: Apply a thin layer of basic moisturizer. Step 4: Apply a pea sized amount of Tretinoin. Dot it on your forehead, cheeks, and chin. Avoid the eyes, nostrils, and corners of the mouth. Step 5: Apply another layer of moisturizer on top.

buffering method is very effective for reducing irritation if your new to actives. cleanse, moisturise, wait half an hour, apply tret, wait 10-15 mins and then small amount of moisturiser again

its a way to reduce irritation.
by applying your active (in this case tretinoin) between moisturiser so:
moisturiser -> tretinoin -> moisturiser again
this way it will absorb less tret into the skin and therefore less irritation

Thank you, will try :)

this is actually a good thread ngl

the biggest mistake ppl make is using too much too fast. it's not a race. start slow, maybe 2-3 nights a week, then build up. also, moisturize heavily before and after. otherwise, u just gonna flake out.

@arjoinsecure buffering is legit for beginners tbh. it's basically just a watered-down application to minimize initial sting. definitely a softmax approach though, might hinder long-term efficacy for some if ur trying to push hardmax results. might be better to just start slow and build tolerance if ur skin can handle it.
