I see some of you here talking about tanning, but also you talk about using a sunscreen every day. So how do you tan then? Is there a healthy alternative?

Just tan. The benefits that you will experience from sun exposure far outweigh the cons and muh ageing that retards here like to moan about.

And use a zinc-based, non-toxic sunscreen if you really have to.

There are no benefits from sun exposure and a tan just makes you look like a white trash idiot.

The entire world laughs their asses off at white people tanning. Especially if male.

Does it work? Wouldn’t you get a weird orange glow? I assume more than 1000mg

And what is the healthiest way to do it while tanning on the sun? How protective the sunscreen has to be? In europe we have those +30c sunscreens etc. What is the most optimal without being burnt?

tanning damages your skin by default so it's impossible

Muh

Just ignore the fact that sun exposure:
- raises T levels
- increases libido
- lowers blood pressure

Avoiding sunlight is actually bad for your health.

And all of those are achieved in 20 minutes of sun exposure per day. To get a proper tan you'll need much more than that, not to mention the long term negative effects of excessive sun exposure.

Absolutely no evidence that sunlight raises bioavailable T levels. Sunlight degrades folate which destroys testosterone and raises estrogen. Elevated testosterone is completely negated by folate depletion from sunlight exposure, and folate degradation is one of the #1 correlates of male breast cancer.

One of the surefire indicators of a white trash idiot is when they wave around the "sunlight = testosterone" meme after they read a study without context. Elevated testosterone means jack shit if its not bioavailable.

- increases libido

More cope. Absolutely no evidence for this.

- lowers blood pressure

Imagine actually thinking lowered blood pressure negates the risk of dermal damage, neural damage, skin cancer, and DNA destruction.

If your blood pressure is high there are a number of remedies that don't weaken and destroy your body.

Avoiding sunlight is actually bad for your health.

 :feelsuhh:

Said literally no doctor ever.

Look outside, guy. The healthiest people are the ones who avoid sunlight (hint: that means Asians).

Cope cope cope

Can you link me to a healthcare professional who tells people to get sunlight exposure?

No, you can't. They all say that you should avoid sunlight, because it's bad for you.

If you willingly expose yourself to oxidizing materials like sunlight or tobacco smoke, you deserve the excruciating death that is coming your way. You are a self-abuser.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

By definition, tanning is an "unhealthy" process in the sense that what constitutes a tan (e.g. a darkening of your natural skin tone) is essentially visible sun damage. On a long enough timespan, and with enough intensity, said sun damage will accumulate and make your skin age quicker.

That being said, there are some ways you can prevent the worst side effects:
  • Melanotan
  • Carotenoids
  • Minimal sun exposure without sunscreen (5min a day max)
  • Sun exposure with low sunscreen (10 SPF or so)
Other users have mentioned sunbathing raises testosterone and increases libido; this is partially true, in the sense that suboptimal levels of vitamin D entail generic dysfunction in those areas, so complete sun avoidance is not healthy either.

That being said, if you are interested in mantaining smooth young-looking skin, sunscreen is your friend, and you should strive to avoid direct sunlight for too long, especially in places/hours where it shines really bright. The more naturally pale you are, the more attentive you need to be.
