It makes the eyes look more emotionally expressive (part of the reason humans evolved to have wider eyeballs than our ancestors).

However, anything extreme is often a failo and PFL must harmonize with IPD.

Example would be Margot Robbie. She has an above average IPD but also above average PFL so her proportions remain ideal:

hunter eyes

Crocodiles have adapted to see underwater by poking their head up, so they don't reveal themselves too much. They have a completely different hunting strategy to mammals.

Sharks hunt by smell, their eyesight is piss poor and only really used so they can tell if they're crashing into something. Plus, the broader range of vision suits an animal that can move in 3 dimensions. Again, they are fish so they hunt differently to mammals.

The wolf and the tiger literally do have hunter eyes. It's just a photo taken from an angle where their snout looks bigger.
