I am a professional trader. AMA

Welp then

I’m just trying to understand the markets

The market is like a big game theory sorta
I mean, you can try and see world events that happen, investing in gold before a big war is very good, Putin has bought alot of gold before the Ukraine-Russian war, now it's value has rised up.

In trading there is always a winner and a loser right? You cant make money without someone losing money right? What makes successful traders so different to the vast majority of people? I mean how can there be a few people that make a lot of money consistently over long periods of time if most people that trade lose money ?
Intelligence and awareness id say

All depends on how the markets move after you enter a trade, then how you manage your unrealized P&L of each open trade. Don't look at it as a black/white 1v1 game theory thing. Because there are always more than 2 players in any market.

I wasn't referring to my personal trading but thanks for acknowledging that. It was lucky indeed. You kinda just need to wait for trends to emerge and take full advantage of them.

I see, so you're trading for a firm now?

I thought you got lucky and started calling yourself a professional based on that Sol trade, my bad.

Yeah for a while prior, not trading cryptocurrencies though. I definitely did get lucky with SOL, and $CAKE in late Dec23, I made huge gains there. But the risk was OFF THE WALL.

Yeah I also 3x'd my whole account in that crypto run from Sep 2023 to March 2024. I lost all those gains afterwards though. Trading has a steep learning curve and I got raped.

Would you ever trade for a crypto trading firm, like Jump or Wintermute?

I answered this type of question once or twice already in this thread! Also a stockbroker is essentially the opposite of a trader. I wouldn't know much about stockbrokers.

Started off just by being very interesting in trading. Buying and selling trading cards when I was a kid. Practicing trading strategies, studying finance, then finally working as a trader. You are in effect, a product of where you spend your time. So I guess it's just a passion of mine.
work as trader as in self employment?

How many years it took for profitability
Constantly refining my system. Some years aren't profitable, some are and others aren't as profitable as others. The main focus is that the trading system is an asset that makes uncorrelated returns over time. That's all that matters really. And from a risk adjusted perspective, it's all you can do short of jacking up risk and putting the bankroll in potential jeopardy; and that's not an option with OPM.
