If my high school wasn't hyper-competitive, the college would be so much harder. I used to complain about how high school shouldn't be so challenging, why should I have four hours of homework a day when every other high school kid has 1 max. I had a 3.1 GPA but somehow aced every AP exam and scored 99th on the SAT.
College is easy, and I see kids who were good high school students struggling. Meanwhile, I have had four years of conditioning and now am a top quartile student at the least.
I used to be annoyed with Asian kids for inflating grading curves and creating a feedback loop of competition. Now I realize I needed that in my developmental years.
Going head up with Asian kids helped so much.
