Depends on face and skull shape. Generally long hair takes a very good face (not just one or two features like good nose/eye area, but also a very good midface and strong jawline) to look good. On average guys long hair looks hideous.
IMO, long hair only fits model-tier guys.

Skinfade looks good on most men and is easier to pull off than long hair but is not as unique.
