That is a massive influx of nutrients all at once, which perfectly explains why your body is knocking you out right afterward.

Looking at your meal, you are giving your digestive system a heavy workload. You have a massive hit of fast- and slow-digesting carbohydrates (potatoes, cereal, honey, and the lactose in the milk) paired with a solid dose of protein and fats (eggs and whole milk).

Here is exactly why this specific meal is acting like a sleeping pill:

The Insanely High Glycemic Load

When you consume potatoes, cereal, honey, and milk together, your blood glucose spikes rapidly. Your pancreas responds by releasing a large amount of insulin to clear that sugar from your blood.

The Tryptophan Surge: Insulin shunts most amino acids into your muscles, but it leaves tryptophan (which is abundant in eggs and milk) alone. With no competition, that tryptophan rushes straight to your brain, converting directly into serotonin and melatonin.

The Orexin Shutdown: High blood sugar and insulin spikes actively turn off orexin neurons—the specific cells in your brain responsible for keeping you awake, alert, and moving.

Huge Digestive Volumeload

Digesting 500ml of liquid milk, four eggs, and a quarter-kilo of potatoes requires massive amounts of energy. Your parasympathetic nervous system has to aggressively redirect blood flow away from your brain and muscles straight to your stomach and intestines to break all of that down.

The Post-Sunbathing Effect

You mentioned sunbathing from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Getting early morning sunlight is amazing for your circadian rhythm, but it also triggers the release of nitric oxide, which dilates your blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. Combining that relaxed, warm state with a massive carbohydrate and protein meal an hour later creates the absolute perfect storm for deep lethargy.
