You come home every day and the first thing you do is stare into the mirror, almost hoping to find a different person looking back at you. Instead, all you see is every flaw your mind has trained itself to obsess over. You know people think you look okay, but none of that matters when your own reflection feels unbearable to exist in. You can’t see a face anymore. Your brain reduces human beings into features and measurements until beauty stops feeling real and starts feeling like some cruel hierarchy you’ll never reach the top of.
Hours disappear in front of the mirror. Different angles. Different lighting. Pulling at your skin. Tilting your head. Searching for proof that maybe this time you finally look enough. But the longer you stare, the more distorted you become to yourself. The obsession eats away at you slowly until your entire worth depends on what you see reflected back.
And every night ends the same way, lying in bed mentally exhausted, knowing no amount of self-improvement will ever silence the hatred in your own head. Just waiting, hoping there has to be more to life than spending every moment at war with your own face.
