Another assignment. Every time I apply for a product management role they hit me with another long assignment it honestly feels like unpaid consulting labor at this point. What makes it worse is that most companies won't even look at your application and send the assignment unless you've got an MBA from a top tier school and in the rare cases like mine where you're an ITcel with broad cross domain experience.

All that work just to get to a 1st round interview where you'll have to talk to 10 different analysts, VPs, MDs, then talk to all 5 different partners just to get a rejection

There's only one interview after this assignment with the HR and I either get hired or rejected.

This one's only one round with the HR after but yes some of them have like 2-3 rounds where you'll speak with different stakeholders like engineers, designers, senior PMs, and VPs

I'm an engineer too. I'm not used to these assignments..I just have to do a few coding rounds, a technical round, a hr round and then done. Hired.

Bro I started IT college and dropped out after 4 weeks. IT is so fucking boring holy shit, how do you enjoy this shit?

I'm just NEETmaxxing on Canadian welfare now, it's very comfy and much better than wageslaving.

I prefer coding over this tbh. Coding is way more interesting and problem solving. Coding is actually intellectually stimulating this is just rot

How many of them do you have to do?

This is for another company. The one I posted before was for another one. That one has multiple interview rounds because it's for a bigger company this only has one interview round after this. Both are high paying but this one is slightly lower than the other.

I've been looking into becoming a PM too. I actually got some traction by larping, despite being a decade long NEET with no skills/qualifications :feelshaha:

Not sure why you want to become one tho. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you said you disliked doing extra work and dealing with finance/business stuff?

Yes dislike finance but Im just exploring my options. Also PM isn't really much about finance or business it's mostly acting a bridge between developers and clients and executives. It's more of a management role.

Btw have you encountered any designers at your workplace (or in the tech sphere in general)? I thought it was a dead market, but also been hearing that they get similar wages to developers . Not sure what to believe

most medium-to-large tech companies still have dedicated design teams despite the AI takeover as for pay all ITcels in a technical field get paid more than anyone else in the company barring executives. At FAANG level designers make somewhat close to what Devs make tho slightly lower but at mid tier firms devs always get paid way more than designers. If it's money you after most of the money is in tech.

I have to call multiple customer support and technical support lines just to extract the information I need for my market research. Brutal. My whole evening is gone
