There was a colleague of mine, a fellow engineer, who was on a visa working at my site. He smelled so bad that management had to take him aside and ask him to work on his hygiene. I don’t think he was aware of his own smell, but it was pungent from 5 cubicles down.

Now i have also run across stinky white and black guys who smelled like BO badly too, but they were usually outwardly dirty and either homeless, very weird/antisocial, or mentally ill.

The Indians looked otherwise well put together and groomed. I’ve heard this is a cultural thing, that many Indians don’t shower daily and this is something they have to learn when moving to America.

Is this true? Why do some Indians smell like BO at work and the gym, seemingly at a higher rate than average Americans?

The food odor is definitely sticking onto clothes, but the spices used come out of the pores when they sweat, so the combination of the body odor (which is going to be rank anyway in the first place), along with the clothes, and all of it mixing together. Yeah, that's gonna smell horrible.
