I need some serious advice, please. I don't know what I should do at this point, and if this doesn't work, I'm out of ideas. Is there anything wrong with what I've been doing?
My acne has been worsening for the past 2 years (it started showing up when I was 15), and I've used various things from basic skincare to serums and even Tretinoin. A year ago, I tried Azelaic Acid + Niacinamide, but after one tube of AZA, it didn't do anything. I moved on to Benzoyl Peroxide, which kind of worked on new acne, but the scars it left were so dark and weird. I gave up and did nothing for a month or two.
After that, I tried Tretinoin 0.05%, and all it did was make me purge for MONTHS. I stopped because it was too noticeable, my face got even worse, and my skin was peeling like a lizard. I realized my skin barrier was completely broken, so I went back to basic skincare for two months to let it recover naturally.
Now, I’m trying Tretinoin again but very carefully. I'm using a much smaller amount, doing the sandwich method, and I'm thinking of incorporating Azelaic Acid again to help reduce redness.
Here is my planned 4-day schedule:
Day 1:Morning: Vit C Serum, Sunscreen | Night: Sandwich Method (Moisturizer, Tret, Moisturizer)
Day 2:Morning: Moisturizer on Triangle Area, Sunscreen | Night: Azelaic Acid, Moisturizer
Day 3:Morning: Moisturizer on Triangle Area, Sunscreen | Night: Sandwich Method (Moisturizer, Tret, Moisturizer)
Day 4:Morning: Moisturizer on Triangle Area, Sunscreen | Night: Moisturizer only
