I would say I'm more atheist than anything else, but I've never once tried having a debate about it with others. I never saw what others believe as "wrong", it's just I couldn't force myself to believe in it.

I said I was agnostic for a while, but that's mainly a political stance atheists will take around religious people so the religious don't feel nervous around them. Not always, but it's how it's used in a lot of cases. Most people who are openly atheist are a bit more aggressive about enforcing that belief system than most agnostics are, for example.

I've spoken to many religious or ex-religious people about it, I've had talks that lasted hours, I've read blogs about it, watched videos about it, I've read forums about it, I've attended church, I've recently started picking up the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I just can't believe in it though, in any religion. I've spoken about Islam, Christianity, etc., and all of them feel the same to me.

An aspect of me wanted to believe in religion so badly, because the purpose it brought to others made me envious. I also assume it brings people a lot of comfort following religion. A lot of religion also brings togetherness like with their churches and so on, which helps out a lot of local communities. In so many ways, it sounded ideal and everything I've been looking for. After experiencing as much death as I have, it gave me promise to maybe seeing loved ones again. But I just can't do it.

I simply have no reason to have faith in God. People focus a lot on whether it's "true" or "not true", but whether it is or isn't - I have no reason to follow any faith system. If I grew up religious, it may have a purpose in my life. Even with the aspects I desired in religion, I just didn't feel like I had any reason to force something I just couldn't believe in. As you could tell, most of the "perks" I associate with religion can be achieved outside of it (besides death), so I just do that instead. I'm not scared of Hell or the afterlife, and I'm not scared of death, so it really doesn't apply to my life.

I can see you explored it deeply and ended up with what feels right to you, and i respect that deeply. I personally know i still have time to figure it all out, but so far my stance is similar to yours - I'm not scared of hell or afterlife, so it simply doesn't matter for the quality of my life.

I am much more concerned about here and now. I live day by day and wish to make the most out of my life, without worrying about the afterlife. I don't wish to be bound by the rules of sins or the bible. If God truly exists and i am condemned to eternal damnation then so be it. "Can't be bothered" Is a good saying for this.

By all means i respect all religious people, religion gives hope to some and is hated by others, but me, i simply just don't care.

My father is a Jehovas Witness, my mother is a christian, and most of my friends are atheist. Every single one of them keeps trying to sway me to their side My dad is always telling me that he respects my opinion but is deeply saddened that his son is "going to die in the Armageddon", and I'm like "wtf?" because what kind of fearmongering tactic is that If my father believes that his son could be brutally murdered by jesus any day now, then what kind of religion is this? Out of all beliefs in the world, the one i could never understand are jehovas witnesses.

People nowadays can't leave you to live the way you want to live it. The best kind of religious men are the ones that preach their opinion but don't scold or force anyone to behave according to their beliefs. These people i can understand - They believe in the existence of a god and wish for everyone to know his word, i get that. But if someone simply doesn't care then leave them be I'm so tired of being fed christian shit everywhere i go.

Read it. Good post. This is, in my opinion, one of the only respetable positions to take. I sometimes do feel like this as well. The bible says that everyone knows the truth but chooses to love it, hate it, or not care. Those who hate the truth are fools. Those who love it are glorified. But if you take it as a face value deal, and decide that its not worth it, that's being reasonable. The hard part if you would call it that is doing good will not save you unless you do it with the love of the Lord. So we can't just say its true and good advice so ill do it, we have to have our hearts be turned to Him. I think the toughest thing to figure is that, not in a fear mongering sense, we do prefer existence over non-existence as evidenced by our choices here on earth already. Existing for eternity seems like a better deal even though we are naturally drawn to having a 'better time' since we have a whole 80 odd years and don't need to worry. Our ideas of time are messed up, I think. But on almost all issues, this is definitely the only reasonable position aside from caring. Most political stuff I mean, like abortion where we should all in good faith agree it is killing a baby but decide whether we care. Right now both sides talk past each other. Same on most things. This is why I have stopped caring to talk to most people, they want to argue but don't take the reasonable position of their view even if it there but rather whatever random stuff they want.

By no means am I saying this like I'm any better than you. I'm also a wretched sinner. However, I acknowledge that the life spent chasing after the worldly desires of your heart is a life whilst you'll never be fulfilled, never have peace, always be wanting more, then lose the free opportunity for eternal joy, communion, and permanent destruction of sin.

Christianity isn't about rules and control. It's about living to serve others. Serving others is serving God. Keeping his commandments, not out of discipline or willpower, but out of love for God. If he is the #1 desire of your heart, you'll receive a peace, comfort, and spiritual joy the world cannot offer.

The "freedom" of sin is a trap. Sin didn't enslave you by giving you a choice. It slowly captivated you against your will. Now you feel like you can't live without it. Thats the problem.

Religion is completely free to choose
As a human you have the freedom to choose your religion or just ignore it ( not the best from my opinion)
People who force religion beliefs and try to stress you about some facts or lies, doesn't know really how is it meant to be a religious human
