Ideal Frontal Ratios (better than the BOTB thread)

Dragos PFL i s simply low. That’s why you use different ratios to determine close/far eyes
Well, esr is the primary criterion for determining whether eyes are close set or not, and u also listed it first in the Eyes section, and pfl has nothing to do with it

chin/philtrum doesn’t include mouth height, wdym?
I honestly don't get what do u mean by "height", but if u mean upper/lower lip height ratio, basso has also a pretty ideal one

Alright so you're talking about the lower/upper lip height ratio. Vito basso's lower/upper lip is 1.6:1 (within the ideal range)
18064

But his mouth/nose is 1.46 (less than 1.5 and higher than the lower end which u indicated)
18066

Despite having an ideal height, his mouth still looks narrow which means 1.5 is a way better lower limit than 1.45 for the mouth/nose ratio

ah. well 47.75 is foid tier imo, far from the best ideal range. most of the recent, advanced systems tend to shift to lower end ranged because esr is a massive determinant of dimorphism.

How is it ideal if the ideal range for it is 2.4-2.8 ?
The ideal range for cpr seems to be 2-2.25, at least based on the botb thread and a general consensus

Wait but the ideal tilt range in the botb thread is 4°-6°. Here It is 5°-8.5°

any flaws?
Screenshot 2026 02 10 195013

Ipsilateral angle should be measured from the lateral canthi, not from the pupils. Otherwise, the tolerated 0°-3° difference with the JFA makes no anatomical sense (look at the jarring discrepancy on Sommerhalder's face).

Screenshot 2026 02 10 195335

Don't know if it's a flaw or if I just don't understand this one.
If you refered to conventional vertical thirds, then why would the upper third be dominant on men (36 %) ? For optimal dimorphism, the consensus is that the lower third should be the largest. Ideal vertical thirds for men are like 32 % (upper third) / 33 % (midface) / 35 % (lower third), or slight variations like 31/33/36, 32/32/36, etc. ; I wonder if you have inadvertently inverted these values.
What I don't understand is the illustration : it shows facial and neck width measurements, not vertical thirds.

Other than that, neat presentation.

Lower third is 36, upper 31, it looked right when I wrote it in word. I'll make it more obvious too

The Ideal Frontal Ratios and how to measure them

These are all frontal ratios you need to know.
My ratios are from renowned raters like FaceIQ and more.

Keep in mind there's much more to ratings, like the weighting of the ratios, tiers outside of the ideal, dimorphism, angularity, ...
If you need help with those feel free to DM me 👍🏻

How to measure your ratios:

For those who of you who are still trying to figure out to accurately utilize these ratios, I'll give you a quick explanation

1. How to take a proper picture:

You might not believe it, but the picture you're using can completely mess up the analysis.

That's why you should make sure to use a certain kind of portrait.
With lense distortion being the main culprit, do the following.

For ideal results, do this:
  • Put camera on eye level
  • Stand 6 feet away
  • Use back camera with 2x/3x zoom
And there you have it. A proper portrait you can use.

2. How to measure:

For measuring, you'll need a tool that can count the pixels of your image.
Here are some examples for the device you're using.

If you're on PC, try:
  • Gimp (free)
  • Adobe Photoshop (popular)
  • Image meter (cheap, simple)
If you're on mobile, try:
