This isn't true tho children aren't the mid point between their parents women take more of the DNA of the females they are related to so if the family's women are very tall in both families then you are more likely to turn out to be very tall. A bigger indicator of height is not looking at the women to figure out how tall a boy is going to be you look at the males he is related to.
I'm 6ft 2 yet all of my relatives when it comes to female height is 5ft3 and below. Estrogen and hgh are the biggest determinants in height and guess what estrogen expression is very gender specific
