Some of them are physically brutal if you're extremely unfit and might take away a lot of free time but it's 100% worth it. Even if you absolutely hate it it's like a few months and you never need to do it again.

Absolutely OP for building mental (discpline/social) skills as your brain matures, helping push you physically and giving you a social circle.

If I could go back I would do way more sports.

one of my biggest regrets during my teenage years is not doing a sport. you also get a status halo depending on how comp your team is.

Could I get a slight halo if I play on a club sports team at my college? I'm like 90th percentile athleticism, so I'm decent at any sport I play usually.

not really, they take just about anyone in club sports, such a fucking joke compared to ncaa. you only get that actual halo effect and status boost if you’re on the real team, ncaa varsity, officially on the roster. if you're aiming for that kind of recognition, club shouldn't be the end goal, should be a stepping stone. use it to sharpen your skills, build some solid footage, and once you can somewhat play on ncaa level, you need to contact the varsity coach directly. send them your best performance clips, like actually good stuff that shows you're above the rest. im not sure if other sports are like this but for soccer, it's pretty tough. most d1 and even d2 coaches prefer international players who are like 23 playing against fresh out of highschool freshmen, completely juiced, years ahead technically and physically. that’s your real competition. almost everyone’s juicing at that level anyway or have been during highschool. do what you will with that info, maybe hop on something during club just to have an edge
