It's hard to say because I don't know your specific reason or what drove you to Islam

Alot of people come into it for alot of reasons. Typically to go into Islam as someone raised in the west, you're sacrificing alot of social capital and going against the grain. People who do that are have usually meditated on God, the meaning of life and truth for a while and are seriously committed. That's why they go so hard.

But every case is different. My brothers ex converted for him and didn't take it seriously at first but after leaving him, she continued to follow the religion even more stringently than he does. Wearing niqab etc. And that's not a unique case

I don't have experience with British Muslims but what I've seen with Canadian/US Muslims is that they're extremely degen and westernized. Casual sex, bacon, no hijab or beard etc

But at the same time they identify very strongly with being muslim and will actually go to lengths to defend Islam and Muslims. Even if they lack the knowledge to know how to they'll try desperately anyhow they can "you're taking that verse out of context bro/that hadith is probably weak"

It's different from Christians who once they stop going to church they stop caring if you mock Jesus or whatever
