im going to get braces soon and i heard some classes of elastics are bad?

i wont get my teeth extracted and i have overjet
im just scared that my orthodontist will do smth bad so ill be happy if someone helped me out

Make some notes on what to ask them before your consultation. Ideally, you want expansion. Ask questions about your palate and airway also. If covered by insurance, try to get a CBCT to assess your airway also.

its not covered by insurance but ill still ask about it
also i want to know if its real that some elastics recess my lower jaw? and if its true which ones should I avoid?

I'm unsure about elastics causing recession (use the search bar here for that) but Damon braces are supposed to be the gold standard for braces so you should opt for that if possible
