I'm telling you again biology is the next 1000x (dire wolf de-extinct)

You seem not to like people with a different view "mister". Unlike yourself all you seem to want to do is belittle others who don't agree with you as dumb and uneducated.
I was very respectful to you, I don't know what made you think that, but I apologise if my statements made you think so.

something which I don't actually subscribe to myself.
argument's done then. 👍

Ditto this.
All i ever said was that the "direwolves" were a genetic variant of grey wolves.
That wasn't mutually exclusive with any of the points he was making about whether there is a new species or not.
I don't get why he was even debating me.

It's okay,
I guess it was a misunderstanding on his part that led to all this.

Well nonetheless, we all go on with our lives now.

Actually he backslid a bit.
I just reviewed the thread.

This was his original statement: "Whether it is the real dire wolf is a philosophical question. If you have something that is genetically like for like, to me that is the same thing. Irrespective of if it came about by natural or genetically modified means. "

Outright wrong. They are not genetically identical to the original direwolves full stop. No philosophy involved here.

He, accepted it in the end, that's all matters.

We cannot expect him to clearly tell us that he was mistaken or misunderstood something as that'd be embarrassing, take the clue :D.

I don't care. I have to pretend to be nice and give social hints in everyday life.
If I can't be direct on this forum then what's the fucking point?

meh biology as long as it holds genetics as its idol will never progress beyond measly achievement

Still under the radar. You should just slowly accumulate over the next five years. It's going to pop off. No doubt there will be some company which will probably be a winners take all - like Nvidia. What's the industry itself will take off. There are so many applications, there will be many winners. The focus is now on medical improvements but you will see applications to other areas. It will have its chatGPT moment for sure.

your prophecy has fulfilled

Well TECHNICALLY no one is genetically like for like. 1 grey wolf and another grey wolf are not genetically like for like either.

This thing shares genetics with the actual dire wolf and observable characteristics, that is undeniable even if you say it's mutant grey wolf.

They're actually - there's something called a shared genomic structure which isn't exactly the same in a mutant (whose all genes haven't been edited, which isn't the case here).

It's just a hype train. There's no dependency on this biology because it's just doing dumb shit like de-extincing wolly mammoths and pulling stupid stunts like this for publicity.

For example things like technology and gasoline corporations are things essential to the modern day of living while this is a hype train similar to NFTs etc

Although if the biology has implications in the medical field it might be a worthwile investment

I'm not saying there isn't money to be made here. I'm just saying investing in these is not a reliable way to get a return like this.

Also, I'm low iq and these are just my guesses so base it off someone who knows better. I'd just say these stunts are obviously meant to catch the public's attention (most of these 'achievements' are huge nothingburgers) so thats why my eyebrow is raised

Yeah this is mostly a publicity stunt. But I'm talking about the technology behind it. It will first apply to medicine before applying to other applications. This company is getting headlines because it can do something that catches people's eyes. But make no mistake the next invention as big as 'electricity/trains/cars/nternet/bitcoin' for humanity will be biology. Maybe quantum computing but I think that's further away.

Companies like CRISPR Therapeutics already got regulatory approval for sickle cell disease using the technology earlier this year.
