I dont want to upset anyone with this !
I was a late bloomer who spent years as the shortest, ugliest kid in school. From about 11 to 14 I was 4'9, stuck in hand-me-downs, long hair, and didnt really have any social live. No one showed interest, friends disappeared, and that time drilled into me that I was unworthy of love or attention as Long as I was ugly/short.
Now I’m 5'10, more average-looking, and girls actually approach me. It should feel good, and it is better than before, but I can’t accept it. When someone shows romantic interest it still doesn’t feel real. I went on a few dates with a girl who approached me, and the moment she took a little longer to reply I immediately assumed it was over and walked away not because I had other options, but because I still can’t believe anyone would genuinely want me.
My core problem is that formative years of total rejection rewired me so deeply that positive attention now feels fake or temporary. Therapy didn’t help and neither did psychedelics. I know things are better now, but I still dont feel like it.
(For the people that saw my prior thread, my bad I worded it badly, it sounded cocky especially the start and it was too Long and unengaging)
