caffeine mainly works by blocking adenosine receptors in the brain
binding to mainly a1 and a2, but doesnt activate them
instead, it prevents adenosine from producing its usual sleepy effect throughout the day
caffeine can also indirectly increase dopamine and stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, which can increase alertness, heart rate and adrenaline
it doesnt actually remove the accumulated adenosine or eliminate the need for sleep. it basically masks the sleepiness until the caffeine wears off
gives me bodyheat and increased sweating
anxiety and hyperactivity too, which makes myself and engage in dopamine rewarding behavior and act in short temper
also caffeine can increase intestinal motility, but coffee itself also seems to stimulate the colon through other mechanisms
basically:
coffee/food -> stomach gets stretched -> signals the colon to contract more -> urge to poop
this can happen within minutes, especially in the morning. it mainly stimulates the colon to move stool that was already there
99% my feces are not completely formed, meaning it has a liquid component and its digestive components are not worn out
-
the colon is part of the large intestine
it comes after the small intestine and absorbs water from the remaining food waste, it also helps form and store stool before you poop
TL;DR
caffeine keeps you awake but gives more hyperactivity than focus itself and will make most people poop badly
