Before living on the poverty line meaned you life a shit life, can't do anything whatsover, can't travel, can't buy a car, nothing that gives you dopamine. Only food and drugs.

Nowadays you just need a internet connection and already have a fun life, you don't even need money.

Thats why most young guys don't care much about their carreer, the difference between normal job and very high paying job isn't even that much tbh both will lay on the couch scrolling social media anyways, no one gives a shit about driving a cool car anymore.

It's not that men don't care about living on the poverty line, it's more that money isn't as valued as it once was. More people are living in "poverty" (standard of living for poverty line has drastically improved) then ever before. Further, whether men want to admit it or not, money in the past was used as coercion to obtain women. Men do most things for a chance with women. Now, since women are mostly financially independent, men rely more so on looks and status to do the job that money would have done prior. So to get to my point, poverty isn't a big deal because as you pointed out you're not really living in poverty as was in the past; and money can't buy a partner anymore (excluding the ultra-wealthy) which was the garnering motivation for men to put in the extra work to get a good career.
