I joined a Discord server and saw people talking about programming. The subject was particularly on web development. A guy stated that he wanted to go into AI/machine learning. I asked him whether he knew any low-level languages or had any relevant projects on things like CUDA, Windows API, etc. He said no, which nothing is wrong with that, so I told him what to do.

I told him to learn low-level languages (he unironically said he knew JavaScript when I asked if he knew any low-level languages, because "it's not hard" ). I told him to do projects with CUDA, C++ of course, etc. I told him some of the math prerequisites too. The guy had 0 clue. He also dodged when I asked him actual questions about programming languages...

What happened? I got clowned on for "muh performative." The only statement I had made was saying I wanted to go into quantitative development. I literally got ganged up on by 5 people.

They were picking at anything they could. I told someone I had never learned SQL, as I had never needed to, and that I was also scared of SQL injections, making it clear that it is probably just fear mongered. This girl then said "LOL it's so easy to learn you ***" ( I don't swear hence the *)

Let this be a lesson to all of you. NEVER try to help moronic people. These people I swear to God were bragging about selling web pages with AI. Their knowledge rivals mine at 13/14. They are all 16+.

Yep, exactly this. "Muh performative" when it's someone who actually knows the field more than them. This is exactly why I tell people to do what I do. Get people to hate you and pray upon you doing bad. Obviously more nuanced, but it motives me to do better knowing this site hates me.
