If what you say was brought into effect through the law or something, I could easily see it being abused by some random incel. Imagine being wrongfully accused of a crime that you did not commit, and someone has the verbal skills or charisma to incite others to kill you. There are levels to this, the constitution was created perfectly to protect your individual rights. The system is perfect, it's just humans who fuck it up too much.

No penalties like jailtime, but if people think you did something. They will treat you like they would a common criminal. There is no such thing as acceptance in society.
Social consequences are different than legal ones. I’m focused on legal ones.
You may not be in jail, but to socially ostracized and hated by society is in itself a consequence worse than the legal variety. Think of the OJ Simpson trial (the first one). He was freed by the law, but hated by society. Which is worse? To be punished by randos who have never even heard of you, or be punished by the law (at least they have to feed you in jail).
Social ostracism happens. That doesn’t mean it should me illegal.
