Guichet was not a bad doctor. I think back at that time he was one of the more famous LL surgeons. I also think this isn't necessarily the doctor's fault. You need to move and stretch your legs to avoid blood clots. It can happen on long haul flights with old people. That's more on you I believe. They give you instructions. Might have been a genetic risk factor too.

I think its not worth the risk. Such a brutal surgery should only be done if your case is really extreme. Breaking your bones which may result in death to slay more seems crazy to me. Anyone who is doing it at 6'1'' has to be mentally ill.

It's gotten a lot better. I don't think the death rate is high at all. Give it 5-10 more years and it will keep getting better. I agree kinks do need to be worked out. IDK if I would do it currently.
