Why did he ascend so hard with Marpe meanwhile the general consensus here is that it's mostly useless and one should just skip it to do jaw surgery instead and fill out zygos with fat grafts and implants.

Is this a procedure worth considering for anyone with narrow midface featuring recessed cheekbones?

Why did he ascend so hard

The only thing that changed was his facial expression and the lighting, he didn't ascend its just comparison bias because he looks like a faggot in the before pic

Lip support changed completely, nose widened a little bit. Midface is slightly wider. I would even say his negative canthal tilt improved a little.

Losing weight and lighting do the heavy lifting for his more masculine look but even considering this he just doesn't look the same.

If this were true you would expect the largest change to be around the centerline near the root of nasal floor.

Yet the with of his nasal cartilage separation and with between his philtral columns are totally unchanged. So what you’re seeing is lower body fat and cope, not widening of his zygo.
