Iq tests dont matter because they only look at a small fraction of how the brain works. While these tests are good at checking how fast you solve puzzles or spot patterns, they completely ignore traits like creativity, common sense, and emotional smarts. In daily life, things like your attitude, your drive, and how well you get along with others matter much more than a test score.
Another problem is that these tests aren't even a fair way to measure how smart you are. You can actually get a higher score just by practicing the test over and over, which means it shows how good you are at taking tests, not how naturally intelligent you are. Plus, many questions are unfair to people from different cultural backgrounds or those who didn't go to expensive schools.
In the end, you can't sum up a human being with a single number. Being truly smart means knowing how to solve real world problems, make rational choices, and stay focused during hard times. IQ tests cant measure any of those things, so a low score doesn't mean you can't achieve great things.

Im not speaking for all iq tests but from the ones of ive tried online these were common concepts placed into them

The only good one is SBV or WAIS. Those have been used for replicable studies all the time

In a sense yes, those shitty iq tests just suck and ask questions that are not relevant to what Real-world iq could be correlated to

1. You take the test once, there’s your iq. You can take it again after a long time.
2. Everything you listed has to do with IQ (make rational choices(basically the “street smart” cope argument))
3. IQ doesn’t sum up a human being no shit
4. Creativity/Divergent thinking and emotional intelligence are highly correlated with iq (IQ=EQ essentially”

Sorry buddy. Bad thread.

fsiq (what real tests measure) isnt only pattern recognition
its fluid reasoning, matrix reasoning, working memory, verbal fluency and processing speed

that doesn't mean that emotional management or crystallized knowledge doesn't matter (verbal fluency is kinda crystallized knowledge but it isn't the main part of the test is what im saying), but as far as intelligence goes, real IQ tests measure it quite accurately, and those are also positively correlated with IQ

The only potential exception is at scores over 2.5SDs or so from the mean bcthere aren't enough samples to compare to so it's mostly statistical speculation

Damn so my IQ is higher than I think it is :KannaWoah:
or lower

Based on my experiences i dont think IQ tests matter but i do think the general idea of an "IQ" exists. Like maybe the tests arent as reliableas they say they are but they do have a strong correlation, somebody with 145+ is probably able to come up with more complex ideas than somebody at 75. I, for one, do not think i am exceptionally intelligent, but i always have been good at taking assessments in the test format (that's the only reason i do well in school). So i do think you have somewhat of a point but creativity and common sense both play a roll in pattern recognition which all tests quantify. However, in real life it depends on how you define "doing well". If you're talking about pure assest/money having an insanely high IQ completely replaces the need for social skills if your goal is money. But if you're talking about social life, obviously social skills are more important.
