What's the consensus on this? Only looks good on certain pheno? Maybe women and pretty boys? Even our prime example Chico arguably looks better or the same without it.

Its mainly promoted in asian culture because prevalence of flat eye area + monolids + short asian eyelashes make the eyes very "undefined"

Which is why double eyelids & aegyo sal are prized there - because they help to outline the eyes

If you have decent orbital projection & double eyelids you don't need it
