Not talking about how much money i can make, but if what im learning is truly useful to understand the world

I just watched this podcast with Steve Keen and he says to dont study economics ()

I always loved debating, a broad arrange of fields and reading about economic systems was always what i liked to do in my free time and i found that economics had all that. But after the podcast im afraid the degree isnt ideal to me.
What are your thoughts on it? Is it truly impossible to find any truth in the economic field?

i agree but honestly i dont feel like it. I lm so much more interested in social. Thats why im studying economics, but i feel like im learning stuff that isnt even true

Look, in a perfect world you would study economics and then utilize that knowledge for economic betterment of the society. Reality is, many people go into economics and finance to just manipulate money and provide no VALUE whatsoever.

yeah i know. I still dont know if i just give up and live an egoistic life and fuck this shitty world, or if i try making the world a better place (Hard work that porbably will result in minimal change) or just rope

Well I'm a commie so I will probably try and join a party and help the disadvantaged once I stand on my two feet and move out, but there is not shame for looking after yourself first.

In my language we have a saying: "God created his beard first".

Well some here are fascist cucks, but I don't mind them, they are a minority. They got mogged in 1945 by the Soviets anyways.

thats shitty life holy shit cant imagine a more depressing thing

From what little I've read about what it teaches, I think it's useful to learn about how the world works. A lot of what you have to learn is complicated jargon and quite obvious, but when you get deeper into it you see the knitty gritty.

There are useless classes (for learning about the world), but economics isn't one of them.

Very good combination.
Personally I think CS and Physics is GOAT combination.
When you master multiple subjects you can combine the two, with CS you can make simulations of physics experiments, and with physics you can have a deeper understanding of computers and be able to modify your own.
Philosophy is very expensive, effort wise. Meaning you really have to study it for a while to reap the most you can from it, but it's very rewarding. It helps alleviate bias, and you unlearn things you learned early on as a kid and just accepted as true, and you become a very independent thinker; however, it can isolate you from the rest of the world for this reason.
Economics is probably the least useful, but still very useful. I think you should learn as much as you can. If economics is boring you just switch to something else and come back to it later. Sometimes time away from a topic helps it solidify in your brain and when you return to it a lot of light bulbs go off.

Math and CS seems more useful imo. Or some sort of engineering + coding

just do the fucking degree and get a job
