Is day trading really a cope or do people just not know what they’re doing?

Yea he’s just like most others, curly fringe with low taper fade who listened to Andrew Tates podcast and thought he could sell Chinese shoes and buy his mother a house
damn poor guy, hope he gets his head out the clouds

oh shit thats fire, there was a bit of a trend a week ago where coins were paired with microcaps but whats that cycle all about
hot cycle just means the microcaps have much higher volume + returns than usual. for example, $RETO went 5800% in 2 days with great volume (10-20mil USD per 1min candle at its peak) and i caught both leg ups so that one stock boosted my profit this week by an insane amount

Just because u did it doesn’t mean everyone did. A friend of mine who hops on these trends never makes money, sure u can make money but it’s just as hard as any other thing
And there it is! This is exactly the reason why people say stocks and crypto and futures and that typoa stuff are cope. Just hopping on not having a single clue what the fuck it is!

My point is that a lot of people especially on TikTok and instagram, hear about things like daytradings and think it’s some easy money glitch. Not saying it doesn’t work, just saying that most people are too dumb for it
i mean that's a good thing imo

more retards trading = more profit for me and other experienced traders

Yep, but that’s just how it is not everyone can succeed

its up well over 100% in september

not as good as my past months but that's because it's harder to trade with larger capital

yeah that's true
basically invalidates all arguments that bring up the statistics involving profitability

INSANE, I mean ive made a good amount of money too but holy shit dude thats crazy. I took a bit of a look into it and what strategies do you use. for obvious reasons it seems like everyones so ambiguous with theirs lol, and they spam the word intuition inplace of actual hardline data.

Are you being ironic?
no im not

here's the logic: people use the statistic that 97% of traders are unprofitable to invalidate the entire niche. however, this is meaningless because not only does the statistic include the retards who make up the majority of retail, but also statistics don't dictate individual performance.

Yes true

microcap strategies mainly just come from intuition lol

but here's a general outline of what i've been doing this past month: i wait for scanner to alert movement/PR, i check the chart real quick and see if it's not junk, then add it to my watchlist (which is just on my side monitor)

then i watch for great dips + liquidity grabs off of key levels to enter for the potential bounce. those are the safe entries so i typically size pretty big. i also take other entries off of nice consolidation / potential for further day 2 moves. also sometimes i just fomo if my intuition tells me that either the PR had an underreaction (for example, $PAAI yesterday) or the initial candles look really good

A lot of people call trading cope, some say it’s op. Here’s a breakdown where we can decide if it’s really cope or not

what are the real statistics?
It’s not 99% of traders lose, it’s deeper than that
Statistically
74% of people who try trading are fast losers who treat it like a casino and lose most of their account within weeks or months and step away permanently from trading
23% of people were persistent persistent and tried their hardest for a long period of time but still ended up quitting with a loss
(So overall 97% quit with a loss, making a profitable trader 1 in 30)
1.9% manage to make a lil money on the side, often below minimum wage but not enough to replace a job, the lower half mostly just break even.
0.6% make enough money to replace their job and just trade full time
0.49% get comfortably wealth and make up to what’s considered a professional salary
And 0.01% actually get stinking rich

Why?
Trading is just gambling in a sense because it’s the same concept, bet on an outcome that hasn’t been determined yet.
But unlike total randomness, you can use certain tools or concepts and theories to give yourself an edge.
Those 97% who fail, most of them don’t have a real strategy, most of them give up too soon, most of them get emotional, most of them revenge trade, most of them don’t stick to their rules, most of them get greedy, most of them don’t have proper risk management.
It’s not a get rich quick scheme but a job, it requires the same amount of attention and smart approach and dedication as one.

The money math:
a lot of traders trade an instrument called nq
Which is 100 of the biggest tech companies in the us in a index averaging out at a price of abt 30,000 usd
Nq frequently makes 100-200 dollar price moves daily.
The way you make money is based on points, and 1 dollar of price movement is 1point
So if it goes down to 29,999 from 30,000
That’s 1 point down
If it goes up to 30,001 from 30,000 that’s 1 point up
You have an micro nq contract which gives you or takes 2 dollars per point moved
And e-mini nq which gives you or takes 20 dollars per point moved
Once you open the position
So if you catch a 200 point move with 1 e mini
That’s 4000 dollars, with a micro it’s a 10th of the size.
With 5 contracts, catch a 100 point move, that’s 10000 dollars
Fees are negligible with only costing around 5 dollars to open and close a position per contract

Most prop firms have a max drawdown of 2.5k usd in a 50k account so you have 5 chances to make money using e minis which cost around 500-1000 to open.
But even if you get one trade that creates a good buffer.
But most traders use micros for better risk management and bigger stop losses

Yes the risk is just as giant as the reward,
So, what do you think? Cope or real way to make money if you know what you’re doing?

Already responded to this thread but just to clear everything up it’s both cope and people not knowing what they’re doing. Mostly the second part

u do trading or nah? what u do?
No, I buy stocks every now and then. Most recently palantir, when it was at 30 usd then I sold it when it was a bit above 100 usd. I just do it for pocket change though, so I can afford beer, snus, other beverages and food if the cafeteria has bad options. Maybe I’ll try daytrading

Stop with those copes and sell dope
