Is genetics really all that matters? Is hardmaxxing the only thing that actually works?

I've been thinking about this for a while.

People always talk about softmaxxing: skincare, hairstyle, gym, body fat, fashion, mewing, confidence, etc. But sometimes it feels like all of that only gives small improvements if your genetics aren't already good.

Some people also bring up things like PEDs or other drugs to improve their physique or appearance, but those obviously come with risks and aren't something I'd consider a real solution.

So here's my question:

Do you think genetics are ultimately what determine almost everything about facial attractiveness, and that softmaxxing is mostly just coping?

At what point do you think someone has reached their genetic ceiling? If someone has already optimized the basics, is the only way to make a significant jump through hardmaxxing (jaw surgery, rhinoplasty, genioplasty, Le Fort, implants, etc.)?

I'm interested in hearing opinions from people who've been in the looksmaxxing community for a long time. Have you seen people genuinely transform without surgery, or do the biggest changes almost always come from hardmaxxing?
