Is getting diagnosed through a therapist a stupid decision?

I’m noticing that I show extreme symptoms of ADHD, my time management is abysmal and sometimes it feels like I’m not truly alive, I can go deeper into it but I don’t want to sulk.

Anyway, I know that when you get diagnosed you’re entitled to your patient privacy, to some extent. But I also know that there is jobs and places that would reject you, and use your medical diagnosis against you. Places such as the military ( I don’t plan to go in there anyway) but also high ranking positions. Any place in life where it would make sense to require you not be mentally disabled/disordered.


I checked to see if I can source ADHD meds but it’s so fucking expensive, I’m starting to think diagnosis is the only way, and I’d rather remain undiagnosed.

ADHD is invisible, you don’t have to tell anyone you’re diagnosed with it. Maybe the military would search through your medical records but private employers wouldn’t, they don’t go through people’s medical records.

Nobody cares about ADHD, and nobody will know unless you specifically say you have it.

Get diagnosed, get meds, function better, and if you're scared of jobs treating you differently just don't mention you have it
