Is hormonal acne just a buzzword or is it genuinely an unfixable form during puberty?

Alright Im new around here I dont really know my shit but itd be real good if u guys can help me clear this up bc Google's been giving me fuckass explanations.

I've had acne nearly since the start of puberty never severe or anything but breakout here and there. I dont touch my face, change my pillowcase once a week, have a good diet, haven't drank any fizzy drinks for 2 months now to see if it'd help with gut health or something, Im very active and been working out consistently for over a year now, get over 8hrs of sleep every night but my acne stays the same, tried AM PM routines for a while but I havent used many products for a while (just this cleanser once in a while and moisturiser after washing my face in the morning).

My older brother had acne during puberty aswell but his cleared up after like age 18 and my parents had sm acne growing up but not as much. And also my twin brother's hardly got any acne.

what is your diet? how much sun or dietary vitamin d do you get? your acne doesnt look too bad tbh. try benzoyl peroxide but do not use excessively, try to minimize use as much as possible.

The term "hormonal acne" is somewhat accurate I suppose since during teens everyone's hormones skyrocket causing acne, can also definitely last in your 20's. Just use tretinoin, isotretinoin, spf 50 and avoid the sun like the plague, that's it really, if you have any questions feel free to ask.:feelsmage:

Diet plays almost zero role in acne, just avoid the foods that have proven to cause acne and you'll be fine (milk and foods high in sugar). Sun is atrocious for your skin, avoid it like the plague, not like you can even get sufficient vitamin d from it (yes really), just use a supplement and that's it. Benzoyl peroxide is good, tretinoin is better, gradually build up to daily use, always wear sunscreen even on cloudy days.

I also remember, like you, doing litteraly EVERYTHING such as eating clean, sleeping right, using moisturizer and cleanser, also tried using just water, changed pillow sheets daily, same with towels. It also even got to a point where I closed the lid on the toilet before flushing it so that the bacteria wouldn't come up to my face and cause acne (yes really :feelshaha:), all for nothing and it just kept getting worse, said fuck it, took accutane and here I am, probably one of the best decisions I have ever made, I will NEVER forgive the "muh not natural" naturalist/primal/goatis fag tards, accutane saved my life brah.

Because UVA and UVB are NOT stopped by cloud coverage, only UVC is stopped and UVC is less than 1% of the UV that penetrates the ozone layer, UVC has also been shown to kill bacteria lol, so in short only the "good" and barely existent UV rays are blocked by clouds. Also UVA (which makes up 95% of UV rays) passes even through glass, so if you work all day in an office near the window for example, you should either pull down the blinds or use sunscreen, best do both.

Diet is good I havent eaten McDns or any type of junk in months and thats only very rarely, other than that I either make my own meals (generally eggs, oatmeal, bread nd honey for preworkout and rice and fish/meat fo dinner and fruit and nuts whenever I feel like) or wtv my marj made

I get alot of sunlight almost all days and my step count avg is like 13k, I used to take vitamin d3 k2 once a day but ran out a while back need to order again

I ll see ab the benzoyl peroxide is thr specific % or 5% good?

Strongly disagree about sun exposure and Vitamin D. It most definitely is a great source of vitamin D. Vitamin D is found in lower concentrations in people with severe acne in a few studies. Sunlight is also naturally antibacterial, same reason why benzoyl peroxide works (obv not to the same degree but the point holds). Secondly, people have had complete transformations occur when changing to a more 'natural' diet, so to say it has almost zero role is completely wrong. UV photoaging is definitely an issue though.

Yes, not only hyperpigmention ,but also skin aging, cancer, wrinkles and everything else that you'd wish not to see on skin, if you're concerned about being vitamin d deficient (which is a valid concern since vitamin d deficiency is very prevalent in the world, even in the middle east) just take a vitamin d supplement daily and you'll be fine, they're very cheap, contrary to popular belief the sun is a bad source of vitamin d.

In the morning and evening the UV index is very low, at night it's practically non existent, at home if you're exposed to sunlight like for example from a window then yes, if you're in a room without windows or with the window curtains shut then obviously no.

He is right about the fact that a healthy circadian rhythm which is dictated by the sunrise and sunset is good for you, but I fail to see how this debunks the harm of UV since the UV index at sunrise and sunset is very low, also the claim that red light is good for you is just straight up horseshit, the only studies shown on infrared light have been done with red light LASERS and not the sun and not even on humans, so at the very best this claim is wishful thinking and at worst it's just straight up lying. The effects of sun exposure and skin damage, cancer and other issues have been thoroughly documented for a while now, I was also like you, simply believing what some primal tard said on a 30 second video because I wanted be a contrarian and against the mainstream, don't listen to these retards and actually think for yourself, do your own research. Do NOT let a fucking algorithm dictate your beliefs. Also on a final note the prick didn't even list a SINGLE source for his claims jfl.

Side effects are overblown to death, your skin will just get dried out, especially your lips and that's it, the FDA had to stick a blackbox label warning on accutane saying that "it can cause depression" not because of any actual research backing that claim, but because there were a handful of very infamous anecdotes in the press where accutane was blamed for tragedies. For example in the USA there was this one politician whose son took accutane, said he supported Osama Bin Laden and had flewn a plane into a building killing himself (this was not long after 9/11), people needed a cause so they blamed accutane, the politician whose son did that even personally lobbied againt it. Due to the overwhelming preasure the from the public, the FDA stuck a blackbox label on it, even admitting themselves that no real reasearch proves it. The exact same thing happened with one of the best drugs of ALL TIME (finasteride).:feelsmage:

Finasteride is drug that was originally developed for treating an enlarged prostate but was also discovered to be excellent at stopping hair loss, it was FDA approved in the 90's and is the go to prescription drug prescribed by doctors to combat androgenic alopecia (male pattern balding). It works by inhibiting DHT (dihydrotestosterone) which is produced from testosterone by the 5 alpha reductase enzyme, DHT is the cause of 99% of all cases of hair loss and is overall a FUCKING TERRIBLE hormone. DHT is only needed during puberty where it is responsible for voice depth, penis size and other things, after development however, DHT is not only completely useless, but also harmful, DHT causes: balding, prostate and other cancers, acne (not a root cause of it obviously ,but still a can play a part in it), inflammation and other things. 1 mg of finasteride daily has been consistenly shown to reduce DHT in the human body by a WHOPPING 76%. By blocking DHT you not only block the main cause of hair loss, completely barring the norwood reaper from touching your scalp, but you also stop the other mentioned negatives of DHT (except for acne for that you'd need Dutasteride which blocks both the type 1 and 2 isoforms of DHT whereas FInasteride block just the type 2). Dutasteride is stronger and blocks even more DHT, it's personally what I use, but technically speaking, FInasteride would be more than enough for most people, it also has more data backing it since it came out way longer ago then Dutasteride. Not that Dutasteride is experimental or anything, it is definitely more effective than Finasteride ,but still. Overall if you're done developing I highly suggest adding a DHT blocker to your daily life, not only for the hair gains ,but also for the longevity gains. Finasteride and Dutasteride are phenomenal longevity and balding drugs, DHT is GARBAGE. If you have any questions feel free to ask. :ApuJam:

TLDR: Fin and Dut good, DHT bad!.

Any1 recommend azelaic acid? Heard 15% is good for skin

From what I know thought causes for acne might differ for different people like having unhealthy skin barrier or sensitive skin? The way I use hormonal acne as a term is js naturally occuring acne during puberty bc of changing hormones etc.
Correct me if im wrong

Yeah, sort of. However, there are prepusent children who live the same lifestyle and don't get acne, but do while in puberty.

Which sort of shows it can only be because of hormones

Same as with accutane, FDA put a blackbox label on finasteride due to public preasure, FDA themselves admit that this isn't based on any real scientific research. There even exist whole groups and foundations like the Post Finasteride Syndrome Foundation that prop up the bogus scare of "post finasteride syndrome". I am a bit lazy to go into full detail at the moment ,but in short the whole "post finasteride syndrome" or even "post accutane syndrome" is a nocebo which is not taken seriously by the vast majority of the scientific world at all. In short people take these drugs and claim to have symptoms years later when it literally is scientifically impossible (for example side effects from finasteride, a drug which completely leaves the human system in days after stopping usage). Finasteride very rarely has any side effects, and even when they occur they just usually go away with continued use or after lowering the dose.
