The older I get the more Im starting to think that it might just be environmental. Obviously its somewhat genetical but if you havent been nerfed with being ND or mentally ill etc. then I would argue that the key to open the door to intelligence lies in the mindset of never getting satisfied.
The "intelligent kids" received tons and tons of equations, they solve them, they want more and more and more, they dont fucking get tired. Its insane they never get that feeling of enough, they never stop working and thinking. Magnus Carlson for example told others that any time possible he analyzes chess games in his head, he only thinks about chess. I think intelligence lies in the obsession of wanting to know more and in the absence of tiredness. I mean Newton was nuts, that nigga didnt sleep and worked hours and hours straight rawdogging everything to the point were he got some sort nervoussystem attack due to the lack of sleeping.
Another good example might be the Indian chess kids. Living in the most shitty conditions possible, yet forced by their parents to play chess for hours and by age 10 they have already become grandmasters.

I dont really think anymore that there is a genetical limit? It might just be the personality.

Taking on that thought that its just the personality gets destroyed via Carl Friedrich Gauß. I think the story was that he wasnt behaving at school so he got extra homework in which he need to add the numbers from 1 to 100, which would take a normal 8 year old (he was around that age) at least 1 hour. I mean that should have been around second grade or smth? I doubt that they could even multiply numbers at that age. Anyways, instead of adding each number with the next one, he saw a system and just created an easy formula to fix it

I mean at that point thats a good example that intelligence is genetical because 99.9% of children at that age were able to create a formula on their own.

Thats leaves me with a "high intelligence is achievable through hard work, yet determinism still exists and the normal IQ guy can work his ass of as much as he wants and will never be that efficient as the genetically gifted high IQ guy".

What do you think?

highly genetical, while yeah enviroment might help with some things and focus on other
your brain is genetically at a cap,
no one can just get to an iq of 200 just by having good enviroment
iq is very spread out and diffrent, diffrent races diffrent iq priorities
asians tend to have their iq most focused toward academics
and yeah iq is very diffrent from race to race

Im talking about if all the ppl grow up under the same circumstance then how much genetic plays a role and how much the behaviour (wanting to learn more) plays a role, regarding intelligence

The ceiling of IQ is entirely genetic bar neuroenhancing drugs which we do not have.

Environment can only facilitate it up to a point but there’s diminishing returns.

IQ is mostly genetic . Many confuse intelligence with knowledge , just because someone is an expert in a difficult field or knows a lot about a subject does not mean they are more intelligent. They obviously do correlate , hence the confusion , as the quicker you learn the more likely you are to learn more. Also some things are too difficult for those with lower IQ to keep up with and learn.

How much your parents earn and their education level is strongly correlated with how much you earn and your education level. After genes , it is early childhood , that is the environmental factors you speak of , maybe 20-30% of the equation . Were you given puzzles and math to do as a child in your free time and a healthy diet to supplement with adequate sleep or where you fed goyslop and given a IPad.

Damn nearly everything in life is genetics. Everything. That said, genetics can be partially random; my parents are dumb fucks and I mog them in terms of critical thinking. However, I still think raw cognitive ability (e.g. IQ) is mostly just genetic.

Here’s a debate-style text arguing the position that IQ is entirely determined by genetics:

IQ is fundamentally a product of genetics because the evidence consistently shows that inherited biological factors play the dominant role in determining intelligence. Studies on twins provide some of the strongest support for this view. Identical twins raised apart often display remarkably similar IQ scores despite growing up in completely different environments. This suggests that intelligence is not primarily shaped by education, parenting, or culture, but by the genetic blueprint individuals are born with.

Heritability studies further reinforce this conclusion. Research repeatedly finds that IQ has one of the highest heritability estimates among human traits, often ranging from 50% to 80%, and increasing with age. As people grow older and gain more independence, their intelligence tends to align even more closely with their genetic predispositions. If environmental factors were truly decisive, IQ differences would shrink over time rather than stabilize around inherited potential.

Biology also supports the genetic explanation. Intelligence is closely linked to brain structure, neural efficiency, memory capacity, and processing speed — all traits heavily influenced by genes. Scientists have already identified thousands of genetic variants associated with cognitive ability, showing that intelligence emerges from complex inherited patterns rather than external conditions alone.

Environmental explanations are often overstated. While factors like schooling, nutrition, and upbringing can affect performance temporarily, they do not fundamentally alter a person’s intellectual ceiling. Educational programs may improve test familiarity or knowledge, but they rarely produce lasting increases in core reasoning ability. Even children raised in highly supportive environments still tend to fall within the intellectual range predicted by their biological parents.

The persistence of IQ differences across cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and educational systems also points toward genetics as the underlying cause. If environment were the primary driver, equal access to resources should eliminate most intelligence gaps, yet substantial differences remain even in societies with advanced welfare systems and universal education.

Ultimately, the strongest explanation for IQ is genetics. Environment may influence how intelligence is expressed, but the capacity itself is inherited. Just as height is largely determined by genes despite variations in diet or exercise, intelligence follows the same pattern: biology sets the limits, and genetics determines where those limits lie.

The debate over the origins of human intelligence—often framed as "nature vs. nurture"—has persisted for decades. While environmental factors certainly play a role in developmental outcomes, a compelling body of psychometric and genomic evidence suggests that the blueprint for General Intelligence ($g$) is overwhelmingly rooted in genetics.

1. The Evidence from Heritability Studies

The most robust data supporting the genetic basis of IQ comes from twin and adoption studies. By comparing Monozygotic (identical) twins raised apart with Dizygotic (fraternal) twins raised together, researchers can isolate genetic variables.

  • Twin Correlations: Identical twins reared in entirely different environments show a higher correlation in IQ scores (often $r \approx 0.72$ to $0.75$) than fraternal twins raised in the same home.
  • The "Wilson Effect": Heritability of intelligence actually increases with age. In early childhood, genetics account for about 20% of IQ variance; by adulthood, this figure climbs to 70–80%. This suggests that as individuals gain more autonomy, they seek out environments that match their innate genetic predispositions.

2. Molecular Genetics and GWAS

With the advent of Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS), we are moving beyond statistical estimates to identifying specific markers. Intelligence is polygenic, meaning it is influenced by thousands of small genetic variants.

Current research has identified specific loci associated with:

  1. Neuronal Development: Genes that regulate how neurons migrate and connect.
  2. Synaptic Plasticity: The efficiency with which the brain re-wires itself in response to information.
  3. Brain Volume: High correlations exist between total cortical surface area and IQ, both of which are highly heritable traits.

3. The Limits of Environmental Intervention

If IQ were primarily environmental, we would see permanent, significant shifts in intelligence resulting from "enrichment" programs. However, data from programs like Head Start often show a "fade-out" effect:

  • Initial gains in IQ scores usually disappear within a few years of the program’s conclusion.
  • This suggests that while environments can hinder a person from reaching their genetic potential (e.g., through malnutrition or lead exposure), they cannot significantly raise the "ceiling" established by the individual's DNA.

4. Biological Efficiency

Neurological studies show that higher IQ is correlated with neural efficiency. Brains with higher genetic cognitive potential often use less glucose and show less overall electrical activity when solving complex tasks compared to lower-IQ brains. This physiological efficiency is a structural reality determined by the biological "hardware" of the brain, rather than the "software" of learned experience.

Summary

While the environment acts as a gatekeeper—either allowing a genetic profile to flourish or suppressing it through deprivation—the range and limit of an individual’s cognitive capacity appear to be fixed at conception. In this view, IQ is not something we "acquire"; it is a biological inheritance that we simply manifest as we mature.

No mate. There’s 0 evidence to support this . Do you know how vaccines work ? Have you taken a biology class ? There’s no way you can even conjure any logic that leads you to that conclusion 🤣
YOU don't know how vaccines work which is why you think their safe. see my vaccine evisceration thread, even that doesn't explain it fully as i haven't had time to write a full one. just educate yourself abt the 'safe' vaccine and the germ theory

highly genetical, while yeah enviroment might help with some things and focus on other
your brain is genetically at a cap,
no one can just get to an iq of 200 just by having good enviroment
iq is very spread out and diffrent, diffrent races diffrent iq priorities
asians tend to have their iq most focused toward academics
and yeah iq is very diffrent from race to race
wouldn’t be so if everyone had the same education system and inviroment

If its environmental then why are there some kids like Gauß or other kids that get the same education and same food as others and completely
I‘m speaking for the average human. All humans have on average the same intellgence.(If they live in the same country with the same education)
Obviously there are some people who are a lot smarter than the average and people who are a lot dumber than the average.
Ausnahmen bestätigen die Regel.
So mostly it‘s not genetical and everyone can be as smart as the others. On average.

Mother's IQ: ~85
Father's IQ: ~95 - 99
My IQ: 110 (most days comes down to 95)

It’s a mix of both
