is it smart to use elastics to pull upper jaw forward?

i have the ones that fix overbite but i used a pen and connected the elastics to my very back upper teeth and the pen. This is pulling the upper jaw forward?

elastics won't pull your jaw forward it will only bring the teeth forward, but why would you want that if you have an overbite you would want to pull the bottom teeth forward?

idk i had the idea that i could keep the bottom elastics in and oull the upper jaw forward too but its not enough pressure to remodel bone
