I would love to drop 20-30 lbs but every single nigga I've talked to about weight loss has regained the weight within a year or two making all the dieting and exercising fucking pointless.

Other problems that I've heard about with long-term leanmaxxing: low libido, insomnia, chronic hunger

Anybody here lose 20+ lbs and effortlessly keep it off without fucking their libido

I'm a fat obese fuck :ogre:

Thats because they relapse to their old eating habits because they made promises (rigid diet plans) they can't stick to / don't like.

So just incorporate food items you like within means of your calorie specification and don't try to rush the process (it'll make it likelier for you to relapse).

but my homie who cut weight for bodybuilding in college said it was never sustainable even to be 20 lbs lower cuz his dick stopped working and he felt like shit all the time

sounds like cope to me

Does libido and all the other shit rebound if you eat at maintenance after you get to 10% bf?
I've seen several stories on reddit about guys who just permanently had shit libido after losing significant weight

The thing is the amount of fat cells can not be reduced. I.e. if you are losing weight the amount of fat cells stays the same. They just go empty. Once they are empty they produce hunger hormones. If you don't believe me google it. There is tons of information on it.

So it is literally impossible. What you can do is to lose weight and then live with being hungry all the time. It should not affect your dick though. Not sure what's wrong with your friend.

Yeah I agree about the fat cell part. That's why doctors talk about "set point weight" because of ghrelin and leptin maintaining homeostasis.

So basically either stay at an effortless "set" natural weight (for me 6'2 200 lbs) or constantly starve myself to be 170 lbs for superficial gains

@Amnesia
what are your thoughts G

I lost 100 lbs one time and it wasn't that bad. I could keep it off for a year or so. Then regained it all. I think you can stay slim but you'd have to diet for the rest of your life. You basically just have to count calories make sure you are not eating more than 2500 a day.

holy fuck that's a lot
what made you regain it, did you have actual symptoms with sleep/libido/brain

Actually I felt much better when I was slim and libido was improved. Especially moving was much easier. Like when I was sitting on the floor trying to get up I'd previously have to roll over and then push myself up. After I lost weight I could just get up. It is a world of a difference. When I was fat I had all kind of health issues and constant pain which went away when I lost weight. I'd say I felt much better being slim.

Eventually I was under a lot of stress and could not focus on my weight anymore. This is when previous eating habits came back and I quickly regained everything. I am sure that if you want to lose weight and keep it off you will have to consider your diet as an ongoing project for the rest of your life.

before: 117 kg (258 lbs)
after: 78 kg (172 lbs)
height: 178 cm (5'10)

That was about 8 years ago. Right now I am fully fat again.

This is more about leanmaxxing to shredded abs though i'm technically healthy weight at 6'2 200 lbs with decent muscle
is that worth pursuing cuz I've lost 2 lbs in the past week from walking a lot and i already feel my dick and balls starting to die

I find it easy, takes some active effort on my part to either gain or lose weight but after that process I always just stay at whatever weight I’m at without putting in any significant effort

6’2 200lbs isn’t bad, but you’d probs want to shave a bit off that, I float around 165-170lb 6’

I’ve heard of this, does being fat through your formative years influence this?

I heard that being fat in childhood and puberty makes it almost impossible to stay naturally lean for the rest of your life

Do you find yourself regaining weight easily if you goof off diet/exericse wise?
I don't wanna be lean if I gotta live like a hollywood anorexic bitch counting grains of rice

I feel like I've reached my "set point" in the sense that I eat whatever I want and can go out with friends and binge 3000 drunk calories, go a couple days eating mainly ice cream, overall living a carefree lifestyle and still just remain the same weight

This is the most complicated question in medicine TBH.
Working the hospital I've literally NEVER seen anyone lose weight and keep it off for 5+ years, even the bariatric surgery patients start regaining after a while
These are boomer patients with all kinds of fucked up health issues though

Yes it's worth it, it has other health benefits and it doesn't make sense that you have lower libido after you end the calories deficit.

how hard is it to maintain afterwards
I've never done a diet in my life just slowly gained from 170 in college to 200 now
do you have to constantly track meals and shit

One thing I'm scared of is on r/testosterone I read 3-4 posts from guys who did keto paleo intermittent fasting or some other diet and after they dropped from 25% bf to 10% bf their testosterone plummeted and didn't recover even after months of maintenance

i’m not well versed with biology but i think it was simply just my eating habits going back to how they were along with my body’s tendency to be builtfat and to retain fat

i’ve gained and lost weight significantly twice in my life, first in mid teens, i lost about 10-15kg and was somewhat lean, (high 20% bf to around 18%)

i gained it back because i stopped going to the gym and i ate bad.

i did the same thing again in late teens, but i was a caloric deficit (literally ate about 1200-1600 calories a day) whilst walking literally 10-12km a day average)

i rebounded, and stopped walking and i ate how i normally did, and put it back on

unfortunately my body is meant to be builtfat, i can put on muscle easily but also fat, it’s brutal.

Track meals? You mean see how much calories you eat? It's better yes, and it's not that difficult, just see how much calories stuff has when you buy it.

thing is though you see retarded redditors saying "muh calorie in calories out" not realizing a grown ass man cannot live for 10+ years straight maintaining at 1400 cals lmfao
losing weight seems easy as fuck but most of the guys I've talked to, even roiding bodybuilders tell me not regaining is the real battle

How much face gains when you lost that much weight? You think I'd look significantly better going from 17 to 12 or marginal improvement?

some people don’t understand how genetic your fat distribution and the amount you have is

it depends on how you store fat, are you short? does your face look chiselled at 17% or no?

for me, my face had pretty little face fat even at 18%. i’m sure i would have a leaner face if i dropped more, but i’ve never actually been below a bf% of 17-18 so i literally can’t tell you

anyway, give it a try, i went from virgin truecel to non incel so.

Yes the fat cell part is widely accepted at least in US medicine.
The significance of that is that empty fat cells produce ghrelin which means the lower you are from your "set point" the hungrier you will be
Also thyroid hormones and thus BMR are universally reduced in dieting patients

the bigger question is what about long-term maintenance at a lower weight? how does that affect hormones

Am I right in assuming fat cells can always be created but never eliminated?

If so that’s brutal, I think I read a study on it once, so really without any external interference you’ll always be as hungry as you were at your fattest

brutal shit

Because it's pointless to be slightly leaner if your ghrelin, leptin, thyroid, sex hormones just remain fucked up which happened anecdotally for a few guys with massive weight loss on reddit who actually tracked their hormones before and after

even after a year of maintenance they were hormonally more fucked than before

Yes if your youth defines the amount of fat cells you have. Afterwards the amount pretty much doesn't change.

well for me personally i got up to 230 lbs back in my university fraternity days from drunk binge-eating
now I'm effortlessly at 200 lbs pretty much no matter what barring extreme lifestyle changes like partying 6 nights a week

never intentionally dieted just went from extreme lifestyle -> more normal lifestyle

2500 would honestly be torture for me
Somehow I've been maintaining at 6'2 200 for 2 years now on 3000-3500/day sedentary

@Amnesia was saying he has to stop dieting to have a halfway decent libido
I'm curious whether maintaining a lower weight for a long period will recover libido from diet
