What is "mewing?" Holding your tongue in such a posture that your hyoid doesn't hang?

alright .. could u share it
+ for how long u have been mewing
Maybe 2-3 years to see full results. Hard to say because I didn't take photos to document it.

By mewing, I mean
1) I completely changed my oral posture, permanently and consistently. I was a mouthbreather. I went from some of the worst oral posture to being obsessed with correcting it .
2) For the first 6-12 months after finding out about mewing, I did some hard chewing for long sessions. I'm talking about Falim gum doused over and over with icy water. I chewed until I heard popping noises and felt numb spots across my face. I chewed until I had muscle pumps in my face that made me look like I was stung by a bee.

The results are not 100% positive. My face lost a lot of angularity in the process. For example, my jawbone seemed to get wider overall, but the chin and gonions did not. (This is why I was considering the genioplasty/jaw angle implants combo originally). Hypertrophying my temporalis muscles also made my cheekbones look weaker. Looking at old photos, I used to have a few really good angles, as long as they didn't show the overall narrowness of my face. I have a more robust, "mature" look now, but less model-esque, if you will.

Probably not going to share photos on this website. If people cry fraud, so be it. I don't have any reason to lie to strangers on the internet.

No mewing is not a thing, even mike mew says it only prevents further facial ugliness. Orthodontics and Myofunctional therapy are real things though which you should look into.

Yes. Basically posture that every non recessed person has since the day they are born. Imagine being 16 thinking holding your tongue in a proper place is going to fix 16 years of failed growth.

It worked on me, I started when I was 23. It doesn't radically change your jawline but if you have good genetics it makes it pop out more, gives you a leaner look in regards to cheekbones too. It also does take a very long time though, took me around a year to get noticeable results, also it's hard to get it right the first weeks. Keep in mind a correct chewing+swallowing pattern is also important, it's not just about resting tongue position.

I tried it and I can't breathe. I have no problem breathing through my nose normally, but when I do... whatever this is, I can't even breathe through my nose.

MSE + double jaw surgery

How high and narrow is too high and narrow for the roof of my mouth?
Not sure but your palate would have to be extremely narrow for MSE not to fit in. It shouldn't be a massive problem.

Also worked for me similarly. I don't think i have a lot of bone changes, but my mandible is more forward and my face looks better around probably because of muscle changes or something.

I just think that mewing forces you to assume the correct position you should always have assumed, it's not like it gives you a jawline, it just ensures you don't hide it with retarded mouth/tongue posture.

I'm asking if I need MSE. How narrow my palate would have to be to call for it.

Dr. Ting said 70% of all people can benefit from it.

Generally speaking if you have any crowding whatsoever you are a candidate. Sub40 intermolar width is always sub-optimal.

I have been mewing my entire life,so I cant tell you really much...yes my maxila and jawline are really good but I have genes for good maxilla and jawline from both my mom and dad
I mean....its mostly cope from what I have seen but its just soo simple to do and its good for health so why not give it a shot?

I'm asking if I "need" it, if I'm "deformed" by whatever the standards are for a normal palate.
